Just a word of caution on HID Ballasts. They're not as water proof as they look.I took my car out yesterday and decided to wash it. I turned my lights on to clean off the glass and suddenly one of the lights went out when i was pressure washing the headlight assembly. So I tore into it today and found the problem. We don't have much room to install the ballasts because of its size and the wires are short so like most people I mounted mine on the air vent. Even though the power plug-in seems well insulated I found the plug(in red) 1/2 full of water. So I insulated the wires and hopefully no more dead ballasts. The ballasts are from the group buy from Rob so hopefully noone else will have this issue.

I installed the ballasts with the plug facing back towards the firewall (although the same location as you). Have not had any problems whatsoever. I guess the best orientation would be plugs facing down, although they would be difficult to get to.

Yep I hear ya, facing down would be the best. The only problem is the wires are too short that way unless you ran the feed wire thats in the headlight assy. thru the access hole & youd really be pushing it with the bulb wires.

It would be nice if the wiring was a little longer. The connectors facing down would be ideal; but like you guys said, it's pushing it. I've got my setup like how Tx's ballasts are set up--connectors to the rear.

Cheers

easy fix. I extended the wires to a comfortable length and all is well...

Makes sence on the power wire but what about the bulb wire? Is it special kind of wire? Looks different but I never monkeyd with it.

Yeah, what did you use? I've got just enough room but I did fancy the idea of longer wires.

I extended the bulb wires as well. The EURO buckets make it a tight fit with the wire that comes on the bulb end. I just splice a piece into the middle. Solder and heat shrink - learned that from TxGreg when we were rewiring the 850 after the fire....

Makes sense. I bet it's simple/easy to do. I should spend less time thinking about doing something and actually spend more time doing it :D
