View Full Version : Who here uses paypal? smokum 02-03-2009, 02:25 AM This is new to me the whole sell and trade using paypal and stuff is there another way or is paypal the best? Pros or cons? rcrad6653 02-03-2009, 02:44 AM Premier business account holder since '01. I buy and sell globally with it because it's secure, and you have protection if within the Ebay system. To receive money on any transaction it's about 3% to them unless it's with an E-check from a sender's bank account, then the max is $5. That's the cheapest but slowest and most secure. There were issues of chargebacks by credit card purchases (recipient says never got something and CC company had PP hold funds) but that is much more a thing of the past as PP makes it be proven. I've never had a problem with over 650 transactions. smokum 02-03-2009, 03:23 AM WOW ok nothing special needed to setup an account huh? rcrad6653 02-03-2009, 04:07 AM Nope, I have a seperate bank account just for PP. You need that to be a 'verified' account holder. Provide the account info, they make like two small deposits of odd cents, you verify the deposits, done. If I buy something from you and send monies via PP, you have immediate use of those funds, and vice versa. All that said, the only buyer/seller protection is with transactions thru Ebay-whichever. ( I have 2 samll transactions currently going from Ebay.de, and Ebay.co.uk on the buy side) If funds are sent for a private transaction say, Craigslist, then it's caveat emptor to the max. tdotbimmer 02-03-2009, 11:04 AM Premium account holder since 2002. I wouldnt do online transaction any other way. The beautiful thing about it is, I can make a purchase today, pay for it right away and funds will not be deducted from my bank or CC in 3 days. For buyers, its like your online credit card minus the interest etc. Only drawback is their exchange rates are typically higher than the banks. They do so to hedge themselves. Iamnotkento 02-03-2009, 12:25 PM Premium member here also. I will ONLY use paypal for internet business. You should set up a acccount also if you like to do shopping online. Almost all site accept paypal, since it is the most reliable way to do business. UZ4PLAY 02-03-2009, 01:11 PM I use paypal and wouldn't use anything else. Koizumi 02-03-2009, 01:13 PM Verified Paypal since 2000. I have 2 separate accounts. Wouldn't do any onlyme transactions any other way. You need to be 'verified' in order to have quick seamless transactions. My only gripe is that the seller's fees are very high (btwn 4-6%). Actually I have another gripe: I was offered to buy stock right when Paypal went public, before eBay bought them. I declined buying stock :( Stupid me. Echo 53helofe 02-03-2009, 01:32 PM Yeah I have been using paypal for years, even got the previous owner of my 850 to open a paypal account so I could pay him through paypal since I had to do the transaction from across the country. I would also use, and have in the past, an online escrow company, but I do like paypal better. They only charge you a fee to get money, no charge to send/pay.
