Being new here and trying to get my post numbers up were I can post images I though I would ask a few questions. Some maybe a little dumb...

1- I was told not to run super (93) unleaded in the car. The p/o said the car will run bad and to just run normal unleaded gas. Just dont sound right to me..

2- How much does it cost to (if possible) replace the MID? Mine has the normal missing little lights. Or can the unit be pulled out and replaced with audio componates?

3- My headliner is in fair shape, but has a few bad areas. Is replacing the headliner a doable job? I have done a few other cars headliners, one with a kit and one with some recovering material and 3m spray glue. Is there a replacement kit?

4- I have seen various performance chips advertised on EBAY and other places on the net, do these work? Which ones do I stay away from and how much real world difference do they make?

5- I think I need a new sunroof motor. My sunroof wasnt working when I got the car. I took the cover off and the motor was unpluged. I tested the plugs and Im getting power to the switch but the motor is not working. How much and where to get?

1 - I don't know your year?

2 - To get a new one will cost you just over $300 with the 8 club discount, I got mine at my local, but most use GAULT, call charlie spear. The shipping just makes things more expensive sometimes. My local gives me 15% for my CCA.

3 - I'm about to replace mine, there is a direct replacement from BMW, but its $300+, I got mine at WLS headliners. <$100

4 - WOKKE Chips are hands down the best, if you PM him on here you will save $25, making the chips $200. Also he just released a new chip for the 850, it got rave reviews last month on the board.

5 - GAULT, also REALOEM.com you can see the same stuff your dealer sees and fairly accurate prices on the items.

Also search the forum archives most questions can be answered there, but some members of this board refer you to that option and neglect to remember that most issues are resolved, but no one clarifies at the end of the thread.

I've asked already more than any newbie on here, so don't feel bad about lots and lots of questions!

If there is anything I can aid you in just let me know.

Even if you didn't want it - there's nothing else that will fit there as there is not enough depth to put anything else.

total BS - whether it will help you or not is debatable (there are usually more detergeants in the Super stuff, but on the older cars for sure it doesn't give you any more power), but it will definately not hurt your engine.

Highly unlikely that's it's the sunroof motor - although not completely out of the question. The mechanism itself is pretty lame/weak - search, search search and you'll quickly learn more than you ever wanted to know about the SR

The problem with the OBC/MID is that even a brand new one is very likely to fail sooner or later. There's a structural design flaw in these units. Some last many years, others only months...

The units can be repaired, though. If done professionally, it can extend the unit's life with many years. I'm not familiar with US repair services, but on German boards people have always been very satisfied with the pixel repair services provided by Guido (nickname M8-Enzo (http://forum.clube31.de/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=241) at ClubE31.de (http://forum.clube31.de/)). Guido does not only fix board member's units, but he also performs official repairs for car manufacturers like BMW, Mercedes Opel,... In other words, Guido knows his stuff.

Alternatively you can try the repair service offered pixelarzt @ eBay (http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/pixelarzt/) - another German fellow who repairs E31 and E36 board computers.

One thing I must add; Guido does not fix units that have been "repaired" before. So if you mess up, Guido will probably not be able to help you. This may also apply to other repair services.

One word: Wokke. My car is not "Wokke enabled" so I can not comment on the performance increase, but there's plenty of information about the chips on this board.

You already checked the power at the switch, then why not check whether or not the motor gets power?

i just recently had the headliner replaced it looks incredible. If you don't want to do it yourself mine cost $700 or so I can look up who did it. Either way make sure and don't get the sunroof liner too thick. Wokke chips all the way!!! I still don't have my car back so until I do I can't say about the new eml v2.0 chip but I assume it is great. I have run 87 and 93 and there really is no difference the M70 engine is a low compression engine. As far as the display goes mine was replaced by the previous owner and it is already missing pixels so make do if you can. Good luck!
