There is indeed, and your timing is perfect. You need to contact Paul at Strongstrut. They're making a run of few of these and should just about be ready to go to powdercoat, which will be black. Do a search around the forum to get a shot of Wuffer's engine bay as he has the brace installed, albeit in the early silver. If you absolutely don't want black Paul can accomodate to put one of the E31 bars in with a run for another model that they do many more of. Price is now $450 per. Best on the market bar none. *M5 will not fit*

Are the M60/62 bars perforated too? I might have to get one of these.

Nice lookin' strut :)

My memory is a little dusty, does this strut brace fit both the V8 and the V12? Or are there 2 different versions?

Here is my Strong strut brace. It is a simple instal with only a slight bit of tugging on the wire loom on the drivers side mount. There is only minimal clearance between the top of the strut and a closed hood. In fact, the bar will leave an impression on the hood pad when the hood is closed. Just in case anyone is wondering what the red wire on the left side of the compartment or the blue round item on the oil filter in the picture are, the red is the battery charger wire and the blue is a form fitting magnet.

IIRC, Different versions because of the bend to clear the top of the engine. Not sure though.

Koiz, I have had numerous conversations with Paul and he has never said anything about there being two different versions. Whale's is an example of the only option now being offered (black powdercoat)

Originally there were two different bars, one for each model and two colours (black and silver) available. Later in production, Paul was able to modify the design so that one bar fit 840's and 850's and, I believe determined only Black should be available due to demand.

As I said in my first reply any that would want this in silver can be accommodated, but you'll have to be quick. I believe they're only making a few this time round and fabrication should be just about wrapped up. I talked to Paul last week to get one raw, to get it coated a custom color by my own guy. Personally I just prefer the silver and he said with a little more downtime he could add an E31 bar to another coating run for the other series' they offer.

I asked for in black powder. Can't wait to get it! This run should be (near) finished by the end of this week.

Black powdercoated for me, as well. This will look nice & stealthy strapped to my black 8.

Now I'm gotta have to clean up my dirty engine bay, lol. I've done some cleaning here & there, but I cannot seem to get the grime off of the washer fluid tanks.

Don't you have/had a Alpina loovered hood? Any issues where the intake fits with the hood as in the strut bar is not in the way?

I don't think the louvers will have any issues as they are forward of the brace. If it is a true Alpina with the Naca duct tubing to the engine cover, might need a little rerouting of the tube.

Sorry..couldn't think of the correct term "Naca duct tubing" :stickoutt. Figured the loovers on the side would have no issue since they're by the MAF's.

LOL. I am not 100% correct either. IIRC the correct Alpina term is Fuel Rail Cooler Duct.

Can anybody confirm if the Strongstrut fits both V8 and V12 engines?

We are just now getting wind of this thread, we have been out of the country on vacation. The 8 series Strong-Strut fits both the 8 and 12 cyl engines. We just finished a small production run for pre-paid orders but we made a few extra ones >>> first come, first served :-)

Thanks for supporting our products, Paul & the Strong-Strut Team

Cool, thanks for the info guys! Looks like I'll be getting one of these struts soon :D

We have 2 extra's in stock, black only, with the 11 machined, decorative holes in the cross bar.

Nice, can i get one in UK or its from USA?

We ship to the UK all the time, our second biggest marketplace
Paul & the Strong-Strut Team

no issues with the fit, the Strong-Strut fits all versions
