Just remove the cluster. Get the repair manual - instructions there I think.

The bulb is probably out. Its easy to remove the instrument cluster.

Well, you could also try to telepathically "fix" the little filament in the bulb itself - if that doesn't work, then yes, you will have to remove the instrument cluster...

remove the 2 little phillips head screws at the top
make sure the steering column is lowered all the way, the steering wheel pulled out all the way
remove the surround. You will also need to disconnect the headlight switch, fog light switch, light dimmer dial, rear window defog switch.
now remove the 2 other phillips head screws (don't loose the washers!)
disconnect the electrical connector and pull the cluster forward and up over the steering wheel
you should be able to see all the little bulbs back there.

remove the burnt out bulb and replace with a fresh one.
plug in electrical connector to verify bulb is working
reassemble in reverse order
Good luck!

ok... i tried the telepathic route and it didn't work, so i guess i've gotta open her up. this'll be fun!

Slow and steady as she goes - remember when removing the surround to be careful as you pull the plastic -it's held with small plastic bits that break easily :-)
