How are you guys.. Just a quick question, has anyone have or done a transmission swap on an older 535? I bought a 86 535i that i love because it was a great deal.. But i miss my 5 speeds and wondering if i should trade it/sell it.. or if i should do a swap? Any information would be great.. Thanks guys

I haven't done it specifically on a 535, but it really shouldn't be all that bad if you are mechanically inclined. At a minimum you would need:
-the transmission (obviously)
-clutch/flywheel
-5 spd pedal box
-5 spd driveshaft
-interior shift console

But first, what shape is your e28 in? If it's rusty and needs a lot of maintenance, it may be worth it to find one in nicer shape that comes with a 5 spd.

yeah, i was just about to suggest just buying one already with an M/T.

If you can find a parts car with a manual go for it
