Hey guys,

Pretty much everyone knows about the rear subframe issue that is very prevalent on our E46's(all models:M3's, 330, 328, 325). If not, do a search and you will see the many horror stories of people's subframe developing a crack in the unibody and sometimes ripping right out. Well, there is a re-enforcement kit offered that involves welding plates onto specific areas to prevent these cracks from ever occurring. However, it is a very labor intensive job as it involves removing the rear subframe and the gas tank. I spoke with my tuning shop, TKX Performance, and they have agreed to do a group buy.

Price- If he can get 10 or more people to commit, the price is $600 cash. If less than 10 people, the price is $700 cash. The kit is not included but they can supply for an additional $150(includes shipping) or you can supply. They recommend the Turner kit as it is the best kit they has seen. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html..._ID=TDR4675412.
Normal price of work is anywhere from $1000 to $1500 so this is a great deal. If you want other unrelated work to be done he said that he can do a discounted package deal. If you wish to pay by credit card you may but they will have to charge tax plus 3-4%(credit car fees). It is only fair since they are already discounting the labor so much.

Work Performed- Removal of rear subframe, removal of gas tank, modifications to trunk, 4-wheel alignment. If there are minor cracks, he will repair at no additional cost. If there are severe cracks he will contact you to discuss best course of action. The work takes 2 days unless there is additional stuff to be done. Trunk needs to be empty and there needs to be as little gas in the tank as possible.

Shop Experience- They have performed the re-enforcement on 20+ E46’s. They are a high end tuning shop that works on Porsche's, Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, BMW's, Mercedes, Infiniti, Subaru’s and just about any other car you can think of. They do anything from oil change's, to suspension swaps, to engine rebuilds. They built my '07 BMW 335 (pics of car almost finished here - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...06&postcount=1 ). I have been dealing with Taso, the owner, for over 7 years and I trust no other shop to work on my car. Other forum members here can definitely attest to their vast experience and quality work.

Don’t take the chance, hoping that it will not crack. I did and now I have a 4” crack that needs to be repaired. If I had waited longer I cud be looking at spend a lot more money if the subframe had completely ripped out.

If you are ready to schedule and get your spot on the list please call or e-mail Taso. Just let him know that you are calling about the subframe re-enforcement group buy that Paul is setting up. They will need a credit card to put on file so that they can guarantee your spot and pricing. When the work is performed you can then either pay cash or credit. Please also send me a PM so that I can maintain a list of people for others to see where we are at. Also let me know when you have already contacted the shop.

Or, file a complaint with BMWNA, have them schedule your car for an appointment with a local BMW dealership, and have it replaced for free!
