Hey guys, I just moved to SF!

Question -- my car is from the east coast and has not had to pass CARB yet (it is still at my parents). I have modified the intake (CAI, manifold S50) and exhaust. What kind of problems will I have passing emissions here?

Also, what is the best way to get my car here? Don't have time to drive it unfort :/ I have found a really good place that will charge $1800 but that seems a bit too much ... I love my car, but it's not that great condition :) I have heard horror stories about other places though too.

Thoughts?

And where do ya'll meetup around here? Looking to hitting up the twisties... :redspot

I have the exact same mods as you and mine passed. Go to a smog place that wont charge you if you dont pass, just in case.

It is never cheap to live in San Fran. Trust me, I've been here all my life. There are some places that will go easy on you and some that will not. It's a good idea sometimes to just ask up front whether or not the modifications you have on your car will pass or not.

Find a place that knows BMW's pretty well. I know that a car only has to pass the standards for the state where it was originally sold and that works to your advantage as people don't necessarily know the right equipment for other states. I think your mods. will probably be ok.

Ah ok thanks guys! That definitely helps. Didn't know it had to pass the standards for the state it originally sold in, that helps for sure.

Anyone know of best way to transport my car out here??

Non-stock intake w/o CARB sticker will usually fail the visual check. S50 manifold will be fine as well as exhaust. I just swap in the oem intake box when going to get smogged. Some shops may be more lenient than others.
