I live in the Chicago Area and I wanted to know if anyone has tried to put a snow plow on there X5, would there be a special way to do it, or could I buy any snow plow attachment for trucks?

This sounds pretty interesting. I doubt anyone here would have any info, you will probably have to have something custom rigged up but let us know how it turns out. It would definitely fuck up all the dynamics and tuning of the suspension, but if you rig it up properly it should distribute the weight fairly evenly front to back.

:lol Dude, i think you are suffering from cabin-fever. my guess would be a snowplow would snap the unibody chassis in half. if you could actually find a way to connect it to the front part of the frame that is. buy an old Ford if you need to dig your way out.

i'm sue you could build one. a winch mount would not be a big deal.but the issue would be frame mounts for the plows subframe. let me know if you do it . i'd love to see the pics

There are lightweight plastic plow available for light duty. I'm assuming that you're not going to be trying to make a living with this plow, right? Just plowing your own driveway?

I somewhat wanted to do both, because in the Chicago area they really don't have enough plows to clean the roads well enough, so I was thinking I might be able to make a small business out of it.

are you a fan of The Simpsons by any chance? i honestly do not believe your X5 would be a sound investment in the snow-plowing business world. :confused unless of course you used it to pick up checks or scout potential clients. again, old Ford truck.

Hey, I know. You could call yourself Mr. Plow.....

This is the bad part of BMW becoming so inexpensive to purchase.......

I would have to agree with many of the above posts "C'MON MAN".

Trying to be nice but also serious and you have a lot to learn. You certainly don't know anything about vehicles at all.

The X5 is just a car that is jacked up. Snowplowing is almost the worst thing you could do to a pickup truck that is actually designed to do it . You think you could plow snow with something that isn't designed for plowing snow at all.

In short order you would wreck that truck. I believe you have mostly all aluminum parts in that suspension. First curb you hit or even un-even roadway then you bent a part. Trans would burn up in no time at all and your rear end isn't of the correct ratio for down low grunt.
