Hello,

I ordered a set of BBS RG-R's on Sat, they should be shipping on Monday. Now after doing alot of reading of old posts on this forum I am wondering about some issues pertaining to the size.

I ordered 18x8.5's. From what people are saying, with 235/40/18 tires there should be no rubbing (have completely stock suspension). Is this correct? I would like add'l validation before I potentially run into some issues.

Would it be better to go with the 17x8.5's, Or even 18x8s? My goal is 65% handling, 35% aesthetic appearance.

As I said previously, I have searched this forum and have done alot of reading, but no threads have specifically addressed my situation.

I am fairly new to the science of tires/suspension and any advice would be appreciated. I understand that the BMWs have negative camber in the rear which will lead to premature tire wear, but better handling characteristics. Thus, I plan to run the same size tires front and rear so they can be rotated.

Please respond quickly as I only have until tomorrow to change the order (if necessary, based on your insights/suggestions).

Thanks in advance for any replies.

What tires are you going to be running? There could be a chance of rubbing only in the rear fenders but just roll the inner lip so that would solve the problem. You can put in 235 or 245 but it also depends on brand since some tend to run wider than others. I would roll my fenders either way b/c when you lower the car you will have to roll them anyways.

Thanks for the quick reply. I plan on getting Goodyear Eagle F1s, 235/40/18's all around.

How costly is it to have your fenders rolled (on avg)? Is this a job you can do yourself?

Rolling the fenders should cost about 100 bucks or so. If you do a search, there is a person renting out this tool, I forgot the vendor who was, it is a basically do it yourself.

Those tires you listed down shouldn't rub, but all cars are not the same, so there could be a slight chance that it can.

why would you go with 235/40R18? this would result in a too tall tire for this car. 225/40R18 is much closer to the ideal tire diameter.

In addition, using a 225/40R18 tire in a 8" width rim, say, BBS RX that has a ideal offset for this car, would mean it is not necessary to roll the fenders.

Why put on 225 on a 8.5 width rim...that is just going cheap on tires. 235 is the min. for an 8.5 width rim.

He is getting 18x8.5 not 18x8
