View Full Version : British Grand Prix, What a Race!!! (May have a spoiler)
Phantom 07-20-2003, 10:28 AM Best F1 race I've seen in the past few years!! Amazing wheel-to-wheel dicing, slipstreaming, late-braking, racecraft, strategy, passing, all that!!
If you didn't see it live, catch the replay, borrow a bud's recording, do sumthin!! Hair-raising from start to finish!
Phantom 07-20-2003, 10:38 AM At least 5 drivers and 3 manufacturers are still in close contention for the championship:eek: Looks like folks will be battling all the way thru Suzuka :D :D
stjobs 07-20-2003, 03:08 PM I checked out the results on the site... I watched qualifying but didn't get to see the race live. I'm looking forward to a season with the possibility of BMW.Williams taking the Constructor's title :D

e46driver 07-20-2003, 11:25 PM haha..ya. one of the most exciting race i've seen. It was crazy with that guy running down the track :D
///DavidC 07-20-2003, 11:52 PM Wacky race in so many ways... The starting positions after qualifying were downright odd and it only got stranger from there. There was some great passing.
kaiservon 07-21-2003, 02:07 AM Seven lead changes! This was Bernie's dream come true. A great race. Who woulda thought that Toyota would actually lead a race? Great racing.
Dr_Bake 07-21-2003, 02:09 AM Grr.....I didn't see it and I don't think I even have the channel for it! Isn't it on like Speed Vision or something? Oh well. :dunno
fredo 07-21-2003, 03:40 AM what a great race! :D
TheBestCow 07-21-2003, 10:38 AM So now that all of the replays are over, can we talk about the race now? :D:D:D
SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER *** SPOILER ***
That was probably the best F1 race I have ever watched (have just been getting into it the past two years or so). I am SO glad I hooked up my tv-capture card on my computer and recorded this one. So much passing!
I feel bad for Trulli... it seemed like he really had the stuff at the beginning of the race, but proved to have a lackluster race after the two safety car incidents in the first 1/4 of the race.
And WHAT THE HELL was with that protester? How ... f'ed in the brain do you have to be to run on a straightaway with cars coming onto it somewhat blind, and at speeds of 200+ kmh? Crazy! I doubt anyone will be forgetting this race for a while...
Did you hear the announcers at the end of the race, when the podium finishers parked their cars to be inspected, Montoya apparently got out of his car shaking his head; announcers said "See Montoya there? He's shaking his head thinking 'What in the bloody hell was that?'". Pretty crazy race...
Glad for RB though. He had some really phenominal passes on the outside of turns and whatnot.. great driving.
Phantom 07-21-2003, 11:00 AM They would quite possibly be kicking serious butt. That R23 is one sweet-handling car. Barrichello had one helluva time getting around Trulli.
And DC's battle through the race was awesome! He's having some very bad luck this season, though.
I can't believe Bernie doesn't like Silverstone.
There were tons of people, they fixed the roads, the racing was incredible. Just because it doesn't have solid gold outhouses by the helicopter landing pads he wants to give everyone hell.
It's really just a rich man whining about other rich men holding on to their money. I don't hear many fans complaining. It was funny to hear David Hobbes sarcastically remarking about the popularity of Silverstone.
I had to rewind the start about ten times to see all of the action.
Between Frentzen and the Jags spewing smoke at the start and all of the passing from the beginning I couldn't keep up with it in one viewing!
I felt bad for Trulli too...his strategy of (probably) light fuel got screwed by the safety car (twice).
rmani 07-21-2003, 02:20 PM I watched the replay last night, I agree... definitely it was one of the best races I've ever seen! I wish someone hit that moron who ran onto the track!

No thanks. A head-on hit likely would have killed the driver. I've been hit in the head at only about 120mph by a large piece of rubber that came from under a car in front of me...it gave me a week-long neck ache. Now imagine a 200 pound body colliding with someone's head at 170+ mph!
Nah, just clip him with a tire, like those plastic "bollards" in the NGK chicane at the Nurburgring :D
That was a stupendous race I have to say. Amazing. I don't like RB one bit, but had like 4 amazing passing instances, great drive by him and many others. I would have liked to see Trulli do better.
Supposedly the guy on the track was an Irish Priest, protesting that people should not be watching sports on a sunday but at church praying to god!! I'm no religious man.. so I can say, what a retard!!!
Anywho..... I watched it the first time, and taped it, might watch it again!!
Glenn 328is 07-21-2003, 06:14 PM Awesome race. MS sure is a great driver - he quietly cruised through the race without much action and finished 4th. Nice work. Even though I don't like him.
Oh ya, no wonder BAR doesn't want Jacques back. He sucks. Bah!!
snk328is 07-21-2003, 06:41 PM Does somebody want to vid-cap the "incident" and post it? I missed it!!! :(
here's the crazy bastard:
jblack 07-21-2003, 07:15 PM If I hadn't seen if for myself, I accuse you of Photoshopping that a-hole in there!
Anybody know what his cause was - whatever he is against, I'm suddenly for.....
fredo 07-21-2003, 07:28 PM that pic does look fake... but that certainly is him and he certainly was out there.... it was crazy....

That dumbass. If he had half a brain he woulda held a small pre-race church service in the grandstands. Probably woulda gotten some sizeable tithes.
snk328is 07-21-2003, 08:36 PM Wow, now who has the vid! :D
rmani 07-21-2003, 09:42 PM So what was the best pass of the race? I think it's gotta be Rubens when he passed Kimi near the end! Talk about going side to side through about 3 corners!:buttrock

But it's OK for him to be at Silverstone instead of giving a sermon in church  I give religion a big thumbs down in general.

Phantom 07-22-2003, 11:32 AM Our Father, who art a race fan, hallowed be thy name. With testing done, and races won, on drys, wets, and intermediates. Give us this race a points finish, and forgive us our slipstreaming passes, as we forgive those who late-brake pass against us. Lead us not into early apexes, but deliver us from wheelspin. For thine is the podium, the horsepower, and the glory, for ever and ever, amen.

Phantom 07-24-2003, 01:56 AM I made that up the other day. Think I'll title it, "Racer's Prayer" and recite it before every track event :D :D
Feel free to use it:cool:
