Hey guys,

My parents own a 2003 X5 4.4i Sport with 51k...the car is in immaculate condition, and is driven mostly on weekends on highway...oil is changed every 3k and maintained to the highest extent...

Recently the Service Engine Soon light came on...when I plugged it into my code reader it came up with a code that read "Mixture Control, Idle, cylinders 5-8"

The car runs just fine and drives the same, but we are holding from driving it before we find out what it actually is...

Anybody know what this mean?

Thanks!!

i think it means it is time to take it in to a certified BMW mechanic.

nothing like that at all in the Bentley manual. maybe try running a tank or two of premium through it or injector cleaner.

could be alot of things. most of which typically would also cause a lean mixture fault in the other 4 cyls also...

remove the eng cover and look toward the back of the intake, you will see 2 black hoses, like heater hose, more than likely they are mushy/torn and in need of replacement, more than likely this is your problem. This is very common on this V8.
