Hey I found a dinan exhaust system for $250. It's barely used and appears to be in very good condition. how much do these usually run and how do they sound?

Brand new, these used to cost about $2,000 - $2,200 for the 850 (I have one - bought it 3-4 yrs ago); for an 840 it's probably about the same (you can check Dinan website). Sound is very quiet/stealthy at idle (which is what I wanted/needed in order not to upset the wife & the neighborhood); doesn't really begin to make itself known until you're up above 2000-2500 rpms (and even then, it's still pretty mellow). If you want a real aggressive growl from your 8'er, this isn't the exhaust for you. I'm very happy with mine - but as I said, I had to have a stealthy exhaust (plus, I think the Dinan exhst tips look pretty cool).

Are you sure you found a complete, functioning Dinan cat-back exhaust system for an 8-series for just $250? If so, I am extremely jealous.

Wow! yeah i just checked the dinan website and they want over 2k for it. i am looking for a more subdued upgrade, nothing too aggressive, and yeah the tips look sweet. but i think the system i found is just the axle back. Dose that make this not a good deal?

Sounds like you have just the mufflers, tailpipes & tips - I don't know if you can just bolt these parts in and leave the rest of your exhaust system as is - for $250 it may still be a good deal, but I'd recommend calling Dinan directly and ask them or speak to a trusted indy tech about this. Good luck!

You can make your own by removing the most distal baffling relative from the tip in a stock exhaust. Won't have the tips that way though.

Basically, that's all they did. you can see where they opened up the old cans to remove some of the baffling. But who knows, they might have done something else in there. anyone ever opened one up?

I did the dinan exhaust modification to my 8, very slight increase in sound. I actually prefer the stock tips :cool
it was a piece of cake while I had the exhaust on the floor for other reasons
