I have been driving in the snow without chains and the X5 performs perfect. But those manholes creat ice bumps and I try to avoid all of them. At night, however, it is very difficult to see them with enough distance to avoid them completly. And when I hit them the jolt from the tire to the car makes my heart ache. :( "BAM!!" I wonder if the shocks or the suspension parts will go bad prematurely because of those damn ice bumps...:mad

Of course the more you beat on suspension, the faster it will wear. If you do highway driving all the time without any bumps, you will be all set for a longer time than if you keep hitting those ice bumps...just the way it works.
