Hi - I just took the BMW from the shop and discovered the CD changer doesn't work anymore! The mechanics prohably disconnected the battery below because the cover was badly put back in place. Is it probable this caused the CD changer to stop functioning (radio does not revognize the Changer)?

Putting the carpeting/cover back in place caused the Changer to reshuffle the CDs, so I played one, however it stopped after 1 minute. The radio stopped recognizing it again. I shook it a little again but the radio never recognized it again, only managed to eject the magazine once. How it's completely dead. Any ideas how to fix it?

Did you check the connections?

Yep, all connections tested with a volt meter, power comes all the way to the back of the unit...

I got this used CD Changer off eBay :

Item 150315359433

I installed the unit on my 840. It powers up and shuffles the CD's, but it says CD Error on all of them (placed correctly face down). I'm using CD-R's that worked on my other one (CD Changer P).

Is it possible that the one I got does not read CD-R's? Is there any workaround for this, like recording in a different format or lower speed?? Please help!

I have my CD changer from my 95' 840.

It works, I just unhooked it last week because I updated my HU.

If you can't get yours to work, just let me know if you want mine.

Which model do you have? Does it play CD-R's recorded on your PC? What's your asking price? You're in the US, right..?

Have you tried a commercial CD in the unit? If it works then it isn't broke-just not compatible with CD-R.

Remember that the factory units are from the mid-90's at best and there are a lot of newer formats out there that they were not configured for.

Funny, I don't think I've ever owned an actual commercial CD... maybe I should get a new HU with the savings...?

I have 1 of these units if you want it.I don't know if it works.
the original head set was changed by the previous owner and I changed that for a bluetooth enabled set. it's still in the boot and not conected.

it's the stock Pioneer.

I don't believe it plays CDRs

But I'd give it away.
I have no use for it.
