View Full Version : Well I am super bummed out right now....
E36HB 12-18-2008, 07:53 AM (Cliffs: A family pet probably will not survive the night, and I feel bad about it.)
It looks like my iguana "Dizzle" isn't going to make it thru the night...
I went to do the daily water and food change, and when I looked in the cage
she was just laying there, very lethargic like and a very brown color....
She is normally bright neon green. So I put her in warm water thinking the
thermometer in here cage was broken and she was just cold. After 30
mins in warm water she didn't look any better. :( So I put her back in the
cage to rest. I went and checked on her about 10 mins ago and she is
almost black now, barely breathing. I feel so horrible because it seems like
she is in pain and there is nothing I can do. I want to put her in a box
outside so the temp do it's thing, but I know I will feel guilty if I do that.
It sucks because she is only about 2 1/2 years old..... I have had her since
she was small enough to fit in the palm of my hand. She is now about as
long as my arm. I have had this stupid lizard longer than I have been
married. Hell before I was married it was just me and her at my old place.
Its crazy, they are known to live 10+ years...
Sorry for the Emo thread... Most of you that know me know I am not an
emo whiner, but typing this just made me feel a lot better. Thanks for
checking this out.
GODSPEED DIZZLE..................
She fell asleep in a (USED) votive candle holder that I used to keep in the window sill....

webdesigner 12-18-2008, 09:27 AM It's always hard losing a friend
If you gave him food and a nice living environment - there's no reason to be depressed. You made him happy, as he didn't have to fight for food or shelter - and best of all he had somebody who cared for him.
I sit here with fluctuating emotions thinking about the things I have lost, it's hard - but logically there's no reason to be sad. When you think about something or somebody you have lost, it's only human to frown at first - but you should smile for that fact you've been blessed enough to be able to experience a bonded relationship like that and for the fact you helped another being. We can't control everything, and we all have an ultimate fate - so smile for everyday that you get to live, and for every being you've helped.

Its all good man!
I do appreciate the offer though.
It's time to go bury her at the beach. Was her favorite place to go.
Funny thing is my dog keeps trying to eat her now. WTF? They were homies before.....
Crazy little puppy....
I get to deal with losing animals every day working at a Small Animal Emergency Hospital. I work in the ICU portion of the hospital, so we're always stoked when pets go home. I can deal with losing the animal, but when the owners come in bawling, I can't deal with it. Their emotions make me sad. When an animal passes, I just realize that it was their time, that they are no longer suffering, and that it is for the best.
I'm sorry about your iguana, I hate losing animals. I've got a 10 year old yellow lab, a 17 year old tortoise shell cat, an 11 year old horse and a couple 8 year old chickens. Besides the horse, the rest of the animals more than likely only have a few years left. :shifty
ilya1585 12-18-2008, 08:57 PM Sorry to hear about your loss bro. A fish, dog, or lizard..loosing a buddy sucks! Shes sippin on some Sizzerb in the sky. :)

Thanks Kim,
I never really thought of myself as the type of person to be bummed if the Iguana died. Enter last night.... I was just staring at it petting it watching her breathing get shallower and shallower...
It was fucking with my head so bad that I would up wrapping her in a towel, and putting her in her hammock.
When I woke up she was stiff. I just couldent sit there and watch knowing there was nothing I could do.

Hell yeah, Thanks man!
JETninja 12-18-2008, 09:58 PM We have a large family, and have a tendency to rescue animals at times. 2+ years ago we rescued a 6+ yr old Burmese Python.....He was an awesome snake. Anyone and everyone could hold him and he was always cool. But one day out of the blue, we found him dead in his tank. Oldest son was very bummed since he was the major snake dude. (like I was as a kid in what was hilly Diamond Bar in the 60s, 70's) He now has a rescue Rainbow Boa, and for 5+ yrs we've had a King Snake rescued from the local grade school. (He's avipercc's) Over the years even my wife has gone from being afraid of snakes to actually looking out for them and making sure they have water....lol.
We recently got a rescue cat, real nice looking Maine Coon....
Remo, was that you behind me on the south 405 in the rain yesterday around 4ish? Was a nice blue E36 M3/4 - had a roof spoiler...don't think I noticed a CF hood though....
E36HB 12-18-2008, 11:31 PM Hmmm I don't believe so I don't have my roof spoiler installed at the moment. Althoug I was on the 405 at that time.....
I'm glad to hear you are rescue animal lovers in your home. Rescue animals ftmfw.
