I flew to Long Beach Tuesday, and I helped my lady drive her suv back to the bay today. And Grapevine was crazy... HELLA SNOW!! I thought they were going to shut it done, but we got lucky and they didn't. I found out that a couple of hours after we passed through they closed Grapevine.

It was my first time driving through snow, so I was juiced. haha:D My girl and I pulled over for a bit and snapped some pics:

Daaamn! I've only seen snow flakes start falling but no snow piled up during all my drives through there. Was it mainly snowing up in the mountains or even around the base of grapevine?

Looks like they got a light dusting, shit hope it clears by mid next week or I'm going to have to find a longer way to SD.

Towards the base it was just raining, then the rain turned into small flakes that still looked like rain. But the farther we went up, the harder it started to snow. At some points traffic was going about 30-40mph.

Ahhh crazy. The only time I saw light snow flakes on grapevine was also the time I saw some Kia that managed to flip on it's roof. Hope the snow eases by the time I head down there.

I'm sure your enjoying the cooler weather though. When I used to live over there it got brutal during the summer and into fall.

That ain't nothing compared to when we were driving from dubwars 2006 when the entire grapevine was on fire. We drove through that shit and it was hot as hell haha. So hot that when you touched your windows it was very warm to the touch lol.

I heard they re-opened it yesterday morning or afternoon. Call 511 and they'll direct you to a 800 number that can give you updates for i-5.

I went through there this morning. The road is clear... only some snow on the peaks, but there is a storm headed that way. It dipped down to 31 degrees at 6am.
