My X5 will not start. It’s been having problems starting, but only in the morning. Takes a few seconds before it starts? After getting it started, I’ve been able to drive with no problems (work, shopping, family/Kids!) The average temp in the morning has been around 28 deg, so I began wondering if it’s the cold weather? However, for the past day or so, the temp has been somewhat warmer, and has taken several turns of the key before it starts. Now, today, it will not start. Could this be the fuel pump, fuel pump relay, a sensor?

try turning the key on with out cranking the car for about 30 seconds. this will prime the fuel pump. if it starts right up after that, than i would suggest that you replace the fuel filter since it has the regulator built in to it. if the regulator is bad than it is letting the gas bleed off pressure and make it hard to start.

I tried waiting 30 seconds before starting the engine, but again it wouldn't start. HOWEVER, I GOT IT STARTED BY:
1) turning the key on (Position 3 - Starting the engine)
2) Quickly turning the key back/off (Position 1)
3) Quickly turning the key BACK on (Position 3)
4) Engine starts successfully!
This doesn't sound like a fuel pump issue. Any thoughts...anyone?
