View Full Version : Anyone know how to program a scanner? GimmieSumMo72 12-10-2008, 11:03 AM I just bought a used Uniden BC 246T scanner and wanted to know if anyone here has one or knows how to program it for NJ & NY Public Service frequencies. Thanks! NYCMPOWER 12-13-2008, 06:24 PM This is one of the best frequencies (470.837). Its NYPD Special Operation Division (SOD) citywide frequency, which includes the Emergency Service Squad, Aviation, and Harbor units. GimmieSumMo72 12-13-2008, 06:36 PM awesome! thanks! anyone else have good freqs? 858.2125 is a decent one for the NJ State Police that patrols the NJ Turnpike and GSP. Bm6w 12-14-2008, 11:24 PM how well does it work? I travel alot on the GSP, is it worth the money? GimmieSumMo72 12-15-2008, 06:23 AM im still learning about it. so i bought an old one. it works pretty well since i can listen to NY chatter from Zone 1 (downtown) all the way out here in Edison. I haven't taken it out on the NJT and GSP yet but it does pick it up when there is activity. I would suggest plopping down the extra $100 and getting a digital set up, clearer sound and more accurate. but this is a pretty good one to learn on! Bm6w 12-15-2008, 12:44 PM Nice, what kind of chatter do you hear? Like where there hiding and stuff? GimmieSumMo72 12-15-2008, 02:22 PM i hear pretty cool stuff like people getting arrested, people fighting, what weapons they are using, where they are sending their units, car accidents, ambulance responses... stuff like that. wildkarde 12-16-2008, 12:25 PM try these links New York County, New York (NY) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference (http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&ctid=1855) Westchester County, New York (NY) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference (http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&ctid=1884) Other Scanning Frequencies (http://www2pb.ip-soft.net/railinfo/scanning/other-freqs.html) Police Codes and Abbreviations: (http://faculty.ncwc.edu/toconnor/polcodes.htm) GimmieSumMo72 12-16-2008, 03:49 PM Thanks! awesome links! but the last one doesn't work. anyone have the freqs for NJ State Police Troops D & E?
