View Full Version : Ferrari/Maserati
SinbadJMU 07-10-2003, 10:19 AM Anyone else seen the new Ferrari/Maserati dealership over by BMW of Sterling? Went by there Monday as they were pulling cars in the show room.... um... drooooooool. Bunch of F355's, couple 360's, F40 race car, couple 550's and 575's, a Testarosa, 4 or 5 Maserati's some coupes some conv. , pretty nice to look at 4 or 5 million dollars in cars and realize there are only 15 cars there and they are all inside a showroom. They also look like they are gonna have a NICE shop/race shop too, tons of room.
dave is cool 07-10-2003, 12:15 PM I went by there on Saturday, and didn't see anything in the showroom or outside the dealer. Guess I should make a trip soon and ask if I can trade cars with them

John V 07-11-2003, 11:03 AM Is this the place on Sully? I saw that going up. I think it's about three years too late, what with the collapse of the NoVA tech industry...

heffergm 07-11-2003, 11:07 AM If it's by BMW of Sterling, then yeah, it should be over on Sully.
I'd agree though... a few years too late. Now you can go over to CarMax and find a healthy dose of Z06's, M3's, etc. on the lot for cheap money (relatively).
John V 07-11-2003, 11:11 AM Hey maybe you would know this since you have a Cobb'd up WRX: Is it Cobb as in Trey Cobb? Same guy who used to run rotary performance down in Texas? Just curious, I used to do a lot of business with that guy.

heffergm 07-11-2003, 11:13 AM Yup, same guy:

John V 07-11-2003, 11:18 AM Ah. Cool! Good to know. I threw a lot of business Trey's way when he was at RP, and he was always a great guy to deal with. Super professional. Good to see he's doing well for himself.
I think I'm the only one who got out of RX-7s and went to (comparatively staid) BMWs ;)

Which do you prefer, the RX7 or the M3?
John V 07-11-2003, 01:23 PM The RX-7 was nice in that it was easy and cheap to get loads of horsepower out of it (like any turbo car). But to be honest, I spent more time working on the damn thing than I did driving it. It also got horrible mileage, never passed emissions on the first try, and had no low end torque. Still, I put 60k on it over the course of 5 years and learned how to rebuild a rotary engine in the process.
The M3 is like a luxury car, with a great interior, a silky motor with good torque, gets awesome mileage, is reliable, and puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
It's a little slow, though :biglaughb and the RX had better brakes.
I'll fix that power defecit eventually. :)

I don't know how many Testarossa's (sp?) there are in our area but I think I "played" (not raced) with that guy (red Testa in the pic) in Middleburg, VA. For those of you who haven't been there, it's full of twisty roads. Anyway, I'm leaving Middleburg going towards Fairfax on 50E. While I'm getting into my car a red Testa passes and I rush trying to get behind him as I've never seen one that close and they look sweet. So I catch up to him, he see's me and hits it (not WOT), so I hit it and stay with him. We were going pretty quick (80 or so) through the roads which are kind of twisty, I'm sure he was surprised I was still with him. I pull on his ass in the corners to show him I've got plenty in reserve. When we finally get to the opening where 50 East turns from 1 lane to 2 he takes off (100 or so), I stayed around 70-75 cause he'd burn me in a straight line anyway. Well that's my Ferrai story, I just thought it was cool to tail one through the twisties. Nice cars and sound great.
def_jukie 07-15-2003, 10:22 AM The Ferrari dealer has always been in that area, for those that don't know. It was tucked away in an industrial park, you couldn't find it unless you were looking for it. Seems as though they decided to expand and move to a much for visible location. Salesmen are always nice there, showed up in my Civic one time with a friend and 3 different salesmen asked if I needed any help and to feel free to ask questions. I guess they know that anyone these days could have the money to buy a Ferrari (except me :) )
