So while I'm at Bavarian Imports on Howell Mill Rd getting my Pre-Event Inspection for the Road Atlanta BMWCCA event this weekend, they tell me that they are hosting their own DE at Little Talledega the following weekend(the 20th).

After grilling them for details, I just can't resist. I hop right in to the tune of $180, which is 1 whole day of track time plus provided lunch and a shirt.

Two of the guys I talked to at the shop were instructors and avid DEers in multiple car clubs(BMWCCA, Ferrari Club etc.), and definitely knew their stuff. To top it off, they were friendly and helpful to boot!

So details of the event:
1. It is held on July 20th. The DE starts at 9AM EST(not central time!).
2. There are 2 spots left, with a maximum of 27 spots. This means LOTS of track time.
3. The format is exactly like that of BMWCCA's school, with an instructor for each person, and controlled passing on the two straights only AFTER a point-by is given.
4. Here is the track's site: http://www.tgprace.com It is located in Alabama, about a 75-90 minute drive from Atlanta. Notice the ample amount of run-off area!

The owner of the shop said that after 2PM he pretty much just opens the track up and anybody that wants to run can. Before that I believe everybody will be restricted to the run groups they are placed in after initially seeing everybody's skill and comfort level. It seems like a very fun, but safe environment to me, with the opportunity for a beast amount of track time for a 1 day event.

So if you're interested guys, I suggest you stop by Bavarian Imports(on Howell Mill Rd, about 200 yds East of the Kroger shopping center, and maybe 400 yds East of 75 N/S, heading towards the Interstate it is on your right) and talk to Robbie. He can give you an application and answer any questions you might have.

Yes, Roby is a great guy, now he just need to quit chain smoking. Have you seen his Camaro? That thing can move.

It was my first time there yesterday, so I didn't see his Camaro.

He was talking about bringing his Corvette to the track event though.

So no one wants to get in on this action? Bah... I'm disappointed in you Atlanta folk.

I wish I could go. I am going to be on my 10th anniversary trip to NC. I went with my dad in his Z06 last year to a cobra event at little talledega. The track is very cool and very hard on tires. As of last year an e36 m3 had the track record. We ran it both directions one way in the morning and the other way in the afternoon. It was cool but you never really learned either way very well like that. We did not have any instructors though. Gas up and take your snacks and coolers with you because it is kind of a trip to go and get anything. Extra quarts of oil and an air compressor are nice to have. There were a few off course trips on our day but no damage. There is a lot of run off in most places.

The track it is on has alot to do with it. Road Atlanta for instance is a pretty expensive track to rent out for a day.

Also, the normal price was $160, it was only $180 because I was less than 4 weeks early in signing up.

Also, how full are your DEs? I imagine the urge of putting tons of people on the track at once is high when you're getting ~$200 a pop per student.

Oh yea, I'd love to do $200 DEs though!
