I need someone to check out a 850 for me. Repeated e-mails to this dealer were unanswered. I would not mind paying a bit for someone to go through the PPC on this car.
Thanks in advance.

I might even take it a bit further once I get used to the TT power. What are your thoughts on a 6.0L TT? I am not sure if the tranny will be up to it though. I know DINAN made some internal mods to their Stage 3 tranny. 8eights 11-20-2008, 11:11 PM If you decide not to keep the rims, Please let us fight for them!--) Not sure if it's worth tareing down a reliable proven TT with low mileage to get it up to 6 Liters, I'd be scared, If you get there, It's going to take shedding some material which is already thin, You already no that, Then you going to wanna toss in a differnt amount of positive boost, More boost less aluminum material is scary! Has it been done yet? If not, It's gotta be part of the reason, You don't wanna run the block too thin, Boost is gonna bring some heat, Real heat! I think you'll be looking at warped heads or the Block fast, I could be wrong but i would'nt do it! I'd say enjoy it, Add the little things that perfects it instead, but from watching you over the past, You get bored pretty quick...) MWrench 11-20-2008, 11:15 PM What are your thoughts on a 6.0L TT? I am not sure if the tranny will be up to it though. I know DINAN made some internal mods to their Stage 3 tranny. $$$$$ Next biggest problem with a 6.0L TT is going to be head gasket and head to cylinder sealing. Yes the Dinan Stage III is a 5.7L block which is 86mm bore same as what would be in a 6.0L BUT, there would now be a sleeve, with such little material between the cylinders and then with the sleeve, might be a big issue dealing with the high cylinder pressures of the TT. Yes low boost could be used but then, what is the point? Second problem will be getting a deep enough piston to lower the compression to appropriate levels for good boost. There isn't enough material in the head to remove to lower the compression down to 8.0:1 or even 8.8:1. Last is the cylinder head bolts, they are wimpy 10mm torque to yield and even if they were replaced with ARP bolts, if high HP is used regularly, they will pull right out of the head! The block isn't strong enough around the bolt bosses to stand the high pressures/temperatures for an extended of time. (don't ask me how I know:mad) Of course the tranny would be another area of concern, but as you don't like/want manual, you have made the choice, there are still beef up kits for the 4HP24 but are getting hard to find. 8eights 11-20-2008, 11:44 PM I've notice that when there's equal HP in a TT drag, One being a Stick and the other being a automatic, The stick always losese? Seems the wheels are still spenning during bosst on the stick and the race is already over. 4WD is a differnt story. Did Dinan put a Hi Stahl converter in there Stage 3 tranny's? Thanks Ed. This is good advice and I sincerely appreciate it. How about changing the stroke instead? Perhaps a CSi crank? I may be talking out of my butt and totally off the mark on this one. It may not be a 6.0L but could it be possible with custom pistons? I may not gain a lot of HP but IIRC the stroke increase should increase the Torque....and I am a torque junkie. But right now, I am not sure if they have the car still. No communication from them at all. Yes, Dinan did put a high stall converter in their TT! Your comments about auto vs. manual is spot on, with equal TT HP an auto will always beat a manual in a drag. Reason? It is very hard to build boost at the light with no load on the engine with the manual, but with the auto, you can load up the converter build some load and get the turbos spooled up abit before launch. After launch, the auto driver will not have to "lift" for shifts and the turbos will see virtually a constant heat so they will be on the valve all the way down the strip. The manual on the other had will have to lift however brief it is but that will cause a disruption in the heat and the turbos will have to slightly re-spool. Gearing is another issue! Manuals tend to have lower gears and therefore will burn easier and will not load the engine as well. A smg trans would be awesome with a TT, hands down better then conventional manual or automatic. Yes you could replace the crank and with the latest technology probably could source a set of pistons (ceramic coated etc.) CSI crank was close to $1500 a fer years ago don't know what they cost today. Yes, longer stroke will increase torque and increase the torque feel. I would worry about piston ring sealing on a used block, you can not rough up the bore on the M70 but I have used a simple technique to get OEM rings to seat but would not gaurantee how long they would last the second time around. ethanw 11-21-2008, 08:00 PM Faisal if you're serious about this TT I would advice you to fly there mate... Is nothing like when you see it and inspect if for yourself... When I got my 16K Miles 97 850CI from NJ, I actually did fly there two times.... First time I wasn't happy about some minor details and left NJ on the spot which kind of positioned me well for some serious negotiation... The guy wasn't happy to see me leaving but hey, I had the time and the money...Before getting back to NJ I really negotiated hard and I got the car for an unbelievable price I may say. In a different note I am kind of thinking about that TT as well :-) I am about to sale my other white 850i and maybe jump on this TT if the deal is good :-) I need someone to check out a 850 for me.
