Ok, let me set this up properly;

You are on a 4 lane highway with a dirt median.

You slow down to a asphalt connection, then you make a hairpin turn into the closest lane. You push the gas to the floor while doing this.

Does your tail go flying all over the place?

Mine did, I have Michelin Pilot Sport's with great tread, I was under a 1/4 of a tank of gas.

Should my ASC kept my tail from flailing?

Thanks

Do you have ASC Turned off? A LSD will make it permanently go away, Nothing like it!

No I didn't install anything??

My E36 had LSD, I just assumed a more expensive newer BMW would have it, I honestly never even checked the specs for that, I must have assumed wrong!

WTF, is ASC suppose to be better?

not yet - have been "getting the bugs out". Did install a rear electric sunshade, and all I can say is: niiiiice!
Ordered the BMW windshield today ($298) and the gasket ($138). Hopefully that stuff will show up soon so I won't have to look at the huge cracks in the glass any more.
EURO headlight glass was also put in and the EURO FTP's will be installed in the next few days.

I will do the rear end in the next month or so and will let you know. I am anticipating an increase in gas mileage (maybe constant low to mid 20's) as well as an increase in the top end (theoretically around 190mph).

...forgot to mention the euro fuel gauge is already installed (like looking at the "liters" instead of just some white tick marks)

The car just looks so much better with the stuff that was originally designed for in installed. Don't even get me started on the headlights!!!

Hey Steffen, Are you getting your glass from BMW or from another vender? Glad to hear all is well. Regards, Carter

I have never seen a stock mid 90s BMW X40 V8 car with a LSD from the 5 series through the 7 series and finally ending in the 8 series. My assumption is that since the M60 has almost no bottom end the engineers thought a LSD was overkill.

Also ASC is All Season Control which is traction control and it seems that you need it before you get a ticket for reckless driving.:dunno

Grrr, this ASC is killing me!

I need time to check all these things out, but it was raining yesterday and today!

BMW thought that ASC was the answer instead of LS diff, that is why you don't see much LS in anything BMW builds.

I have ASC+T and it has saved my rear end a few times, once I was driving back home in Ohio, and it started to snow real bad, I was about 2 miles from home and traveling fast on the high way, the road was clear until I went up the hill on the highway and then all of a sudden, snow, I thought I was about to wipe out, I still have a reaction to snow, all those years owning a mustang V8. Anyways, the ASC+T thing kicked in and slowed the car down to were it was still in control and I made it home, so I like my ASC+T.

I like the ASC as well though it can get annoying since the car bogs so much when it does kick in. It kicks in when I'm accelerating hard from a stop to make a gap in traffic at an intersection just because of some leaves under one of my tires and that is frustrating. An LSD should help with that a lot and is on the to-do list if I can find one :)

Straight from the BMW Dealer (not GAULT-they don't like shipping glass so far).

Starting the EURO Sport seat refurb in the next couple weeks as well...

I was holding off from doing all the "upgrades" until I was sure the car was 100% whole again after the fire.

BMW is not the only company to think that because Audi does the same with their quattro all wheel drive in all the new cars and I will see how much this saves them at the Audi Academy here in a few months. But then again if they put LSDs in the front and rear then had a E-diff in the middle that would be Lamborghini material so damn price range markets!
