It's offical : http://scca.com/newsarticle.aspx?hub=3&news=3521

I'm of course stoked since I'm < 1 hr away from the event site.

Have a feeling my basement will be rather full come September. :D

Thanks - Jon

This will be the more appropriate thread to ask for any more info.

Hotels. All types. Ones more appropriate for sharing-a little nicer since the price is split, two beds, big rooms.
Cheap. Rather value priced-cheap but still clean with a safe parking lot (no vanalism)
Restaraunts? All types.
Camping? tent or M/H and/or truck insert camper.

Wondering if we will be able to stay on site? How secure on site?

Indeed! Make sure to book your hotel reservations asap, as there are football games the weekend before and after Nationals.

As for staying onsite, I read somewhere that everyone needs to be off the site by 9pm each day.

Howard is working on setting up a Solo City, so I suspect camping will be allowed even if it's not at your paddock spot.

Well, I'll have to drive a little bit farther, but no biggie. I'm stoked.

Solo City camping sounds like a winner. Let's hope that comes together.

Otherwise, hey Jon ... save me a spot! :-)

Slick Asphalt? Initial testing has shown Lincoln has ~ 20% less grip than Heartland Park, but that should increase significantly with some seasoning. HPT has a lot of grip if you do not get in the sand. I was VERY surprised this year. DSP cars had enough grip to get on two wheels... which takes at least a little grip. :stickoutt

I've not been there but most everyone says it is slippery. Which would make sense based on how much more competitive light cars and/or AWD cars have become.

1200 miles for me versus 1130 to Topeka. I'll gladly tow an extra 70mi to get courses worthy of Nationals.

I am super-excited for this. I was actually considering parting & selling my car after this season, but I've now decided to keep it and run one more season in STU. I'm curious to compare to the E46 and STevo's on concrete (it worked out well for me at Wendover earlier this season!)

Already making some changes & plans for next season. I hate winter!!!

every bimmer in STX should be faster if they take advantage of the revised wheel/tire allowances :dunno

I'm hopeful to be in STX in '09 also... in a bimmer. Should know for sure within the next week or so.

Glad to see we have a new home for Nats in Nebraska. We already have a big block of rooms for the week of Nats09. Already changed our 2009 schedule to include a lot more concrete events in Texas in preparation for the new site.

We've also talked to a number of folks building new BMWs for STU and STX (and we're even helping develop an STU Mustang!). Hope there's more grip there than HPT, so these RWD cars that can use the 285s are not built for nothing. :D

So who's saying the concrete there is low grip?? Does anyone have any data to back these claims up? Who's going to do some recon at an upcoming event, hopefully with a data logger to compare against HPT???

There was an STU STi at the test event there that regularly runs at HPT.

"My datalog shows less overall grip than HPT (0.95G avg. sustained vs 1.1G at HPT) but it did get better as we put more runs down."

Many of the other drivers said there was noticeably less grip, others said they felt there was more. This is the only hard data that has been provided so far.

I'll be doing a lot of testing out there in '09 and hope to have access to a datalogger for just that.

Terry, you guys should come up for some of the regional events, sounds like we'll be doing a few two-day ones there in '09. I have room in my basement for the Vorshlag Crew. ;)

Site needs a good cleaning at least. I know planning is in the works to scrub it good, and do some prep work next spring.

I believe there's data in the massive 72 page thread on SCCAForums. http://sccaforums.com/forums/thread/299797.aspx. I'll leave it up to you to find it in there. Short story is that Mini drivers chewed up fronts, felt the grip was inconsistent and I believe had data logging to show less lateral Gs than HPT. Ideas have been put out on the why's and how to fix it.

Sounds like one of those Highway Surface Grinders are needed and then a Street Sweeper. Take like 1/4 inch off and NDOT could reuse.

Yea Wilcox and Reno were whining about going through a set of fronts in a 2 day event. Pictures also shwed lots of "marbles" similar to HPT.

All I can say is "Street Tires!" :-))))

It may take a bit of using, maybe more than one season, but if this concrete site can be cleaned up then the grip levels can and should go above HPT. Then RWD cars should have a better shot at STU again...
