that is the auction...and 150 isnt a bad price...but maybe we could lower the price a bit?
who would want this...i know i do
lets see a rough show of hands and then we can demand a group buy!
hatnlvr 07-03-2003, 08:49 AM Have you contacted the seller? I'd be interested.
cosmosm3 07-03-2003, 08:54 AM I would be interested to if price is any better.
jmargo 07-03-2003, 12:30 PM Why don't you guys contact Ed Mazula. He advertices in Roundel.
He machines yours in a day. Nice guy too, If you next day him your TB you should have it back in three days.
He bored mine about 3-4 years ago. I had him bore it till he hit the copper pipe.

Franchise 07-03-2003, 01:13 PM so how do we contact ed?
jmargo 07-03-2003, 02:20 PM Look in the advertiser section of either Roundel or Bimmer.
Its under Big bore throttle bodies.
Nice guy to talk to. I think he is a retired Airplane Machinist and now does this to keep busy in retirement. I am pretty sure if you get a group together he would hook up a good price. He is in southern Ca.

orlandoD 07-04-2003, 12:36 AM Yeah I'm interested. I will monitor the post. Prices?
Franchise 07-04-2003, 02:01 AM well since i dont have any issues of any of those magazines...i cant look him up.
but i will start by emailing the guy on ebay about a group buy and see where we can go from there.
///Mitch3 07-04-2003, 01:39 PM this would fit a 99 323 right since it has a 2.5 in it?
Franchise 07-04-2003, 01:53 PM i do not know...i can ask the guy.
but someone will probably answer that question faster on here
jmargo 07-04-2003, 03:50 PM Here are pics of the work Ed did for me. He machines out your TB then builds a custom butterfly and smothes the bar that holds the butterfly. You can tell him how much to bore. I had him bore mine till he hit the copper pipe which gave me 2.5-3mm. You can have him cut less. I think I paid 125 at the time. Prices should be in the 175 range by now. With a group he might cut a deal. It beats the exchange because you get your TB back. The only thing you have to do is reset the throttle position sensor. Which is easy. Plus your keeping your business in the U.S.

Franchise 07-04-2003, 07:08 PM what kind of increase did you notice?
is that the most you can bore out?
jmargo 07-05-2003, 11:21 AM I did alot of work at one time. So I couldn't tell.
You can only bore that amount because of the copper coolant line that runs on the inside of it. I have heard of people bypassing the line and boring way into it.

Sorry for the rookie question, but could you expand on this? Is the procedure the same for all engines (OBDI and OBDII)? TIA.

Well said. Support your local economies! God knows, the U.S. can use all the help it can get right now. If you're going to spend the money, at least put a fellow American BMW enthusiast to work.
...getting off soapbox...
jmargo 07-05-2003, 05:51 PM I don't have the procedure in front of me but if I remember right you use a volt-ohm meter to null out the sensor to zero. It should be in the Bentley. Ed told me how to do it. But that was a couple years ago.
