View Full Version : Bay Area help? (Brake pads)
hitek510 10-21-2008, 02:28 AM Anyone from the SF Bay Area want to help me replace my brake pads sometime? I've never done this before so having a helping hand would be pretty cool in this learning experience. So if you're bored and/or have nothing else better to do, holla at me! Thanks in advance
Jrdeamicis 10-21-2008, 11:26 AM I have a garage up in the north bay if you are willing to bring the beer. I will bring the BBQ and we can knock out the pads and anything else you need.

Lets do this, I lost my garage now that I am on the boat. I have a private parking area at my storage but I hate having to drag my jacks across the 75' of gravel to the blacktop..

NSR AJ 11-07-2008, 02:39 AM exact same thing as the e36.
-your only changing pads right?
-if your sensor brake sensor light went off on the cluster then you will need a new sensor.
-are you changing front, rear, or both?

yeah the brake sensor light is on on my cluster. I have pads and sensors. I'm not sure if I need new rotors? Since I got Front and Rear pads and sensors, might as well change both I guess...

Are your rotors smooth (flat) if they're worn in, it might be a good idea to replace the rotors as well.
If you're just doing the pads/sensors, it's probably less than an hour's work. Rotors will take some more effort.
hitek510 11-07-2008, 01:56 PM yeah i just bought some brand new front brake rotors so might as well do it!
Jrdeamicis 11-07-2008, 03:58 PM I told you that you could come do it at my place...

Stir Fry A Lot 11-09-2008, 12:22 AM I replace my rotors anytime that I replace my pads. BMW pads and rotors are designed to wear in unison.
