So I picked up a 97 528 the other night, 165k in good condition, for $4500. I test drove it and everything felt fine. I met the guy in a parking lot and the only thing I noticed was the ever popular steering wheel wobble, no big deal just need to diagnose and fix. It definatley needs new front struts so thats more than likely the problem. Maybe.

Anyway, in the morning when I started it up cold it had a very rough idle and the CEL came on. I drove around the block and did not get any better. I was really low on gas so I drove around the corner and filled up. Then when I started the car it was fine. Smooth as can be. Drove around a bunch and no issues.

So this afternoon when I got home from work (still driving the G35 to work) I started it up cold again same problem. I let it warm up and shut it down, then started it back up, just fine.

So I drove out the local autozone but I missed the memo that they no longer pull engine codes due to some California law that changed.

Anyone who might have a code reader in the Sacramento area let me know.
