Hi guys,
I spoke to Greg today and he can't make it this weekend. He runs a business and needs a couple of weeks notice. I think this weekend is too short a notice for most people, if we're going to try and do this let's get as many participants as possible.
I propose this: a one day get -together on the last Sat. of Oct/ 1st Sat in November. We keep things simple- a luncheon/ meet-n-greet, take pics, and (if I can arrange it, and if anyone is interested) a dyno session at a local place (it was about $45 last time if I remember correctly).
Thoughts?
Ethan- while I appreciate your generous offer, a six hour round-trip is too much for the privelege of getting greasy! I'm making good progress, and if this gathering works out we can make plans for a bigger hoe-down in the spring. Something TEXAS SIZE!
BTW, I still think we need a new thread...
Regards,
M.R.

sardonumsei 10-17-2008, 11:37 AM Thanks for the new thread Greg. Any ideas on where we should meet? A friend of mine in Georgetown (just north of Austin) has a car audio shop which would give us a place to meet. Any other suggestions?
-Douglas

ethanw 10-28-2008, 12:06 AM Man this place is dead :-( Talking about a Texas size powow, NOT :-)
What does it take to motivate them folks in TX?

TTTXGreg 10-28-2008, 12:22 AM 11/1 is this Saturday. I have a mother-in-law going for cancer tests Friday. Depending on how that goes, I'm game for a quick scoot to north Austin. I could be there by noon.
TxGR8White 10-28-2008, 12:28 AM GAULT's Goodie-Box arrived tonight - might be able to make it as well after I get back from Los Angeles late Thursday.
sardonumsei 10-28-2008, 02:16 AM I am still up for it. Who's coming? M.Rad had some ideas for a place to me. So do I. We can meet at my friend's audio shop in Georgetown. If that works, I will set it up. If anybody else has a suggestion, let me know. We need to finalize things quickly.

Georgetown sounds good to me. 210 miles and easier in/out of than Austin or south for me.
sardonumsei 10-28-2008, 01:14 PM Let's have it in Georgetown unless someone has another suggestion.
So, let's have a roll call for this Saturday. Who's coming?
-Douglas
sardonumsei 10-28-2008, 09:46 PM I have the location arranged if we want to do this. If there are only a couple who want to do this, maybe we should reschedule. Let me know. I am game for either.
-Douglas
ethanw 10-28-2008, 10:30 PM Yeah reschedule please since we don't have so many people attending. Besides I just got the famous stomach flu bug that is so strong that even antibiotics can't fix it :-( I will hate to give that you all guys....
I would like this to be a big get together and not just few folks. Where is everybody else?

M.Rad. 10-29-2008, 10:37 AM Ethan, sorry to hear you're feeling ill, I know the crud can be quite debilitating.
If we are to re-schedule, what about the following weekend? Georgetown is fine for me. How many potential attendees do we have? I'd be happy to meet with just a few people, or a lot, doesn't matter. If we have just a few we can always make plan for bigger and better later next spring.
If we keep posponing this, I'm afraid it will be difficult to motivate people for the "Big One".
Anyone who wants to talk in person is wecome to call me (512)589-5299. C'mon people-Rah!, Rah!, Rah!
Regards,
M.R.
TxGR8White 10-29-2008, 11:06 AM next weekend is more do-able for me (might actually have the car back on the road by then)
RokstaNorth 10-29-2008, 01:02 PM Why dont we meet at AutumnBahn.
My 8 will be entered in her Oxydized glory!
TxGR8White 10-29-2008, 01:07 PM please elaborate on "AutumnBahn"
RokstaNorth 10-29-2008, 01:11 PM AutumnBahn European Auto Show www.autumnbahn.com (http://www.autumnbahn.com)
all info is there!
ethanw 10-29-2008, 04:56 PM This ain't a bad idea for a Texas meet. I kind of like this venue to be honest. What do you guys think?
sardonumsei 10-29-2008, 05:36 PM I am not sure if I am available that weekend. I am available on 11/8 and have a place to hold it.
-Douglas
RokstaNorth 10-30-2008, 11:53 AM This ain't a bad idea for a Texas meet. I kind of like this venue to be honest. What do you guys think?
Ill go to Autumn Bahn for sure.
As for the Meet in georgetown, as much as I would like to, I really havent driven my car more than 100mi in one sitting.

sardonumsei 10-30-2008, 03:53 PM I definitely cannot makle AutumBahn. I have the venue for 11/8 and am ready to send an announcement if people are interested. So if you want it on 11/8 in Georgetown, say the word and its done.

Who's in?? Steffen and I are planning on it. See Roadfly posts also for attendees.
M.Rad. 11-04-2008, 06:29 PM I'll be there, but my eight is still not assembled. I have the motor assembled but I'm still cleaning the engine compartment, etc.
I guess I'll be ready to start winching it back in next wee or the week thereafter.

ethanw 11-04-2008, 09:03 PM Can't make it this weekend... A good friend of mine from Aberdeen Scotland is making a quick stop in Houston going to Cancun just to see me... I used to work there and haven't seen his sorry arse for about 4 years now.. Can't miss this for the world man.... Sorry Sorry Sorry....
I think we should plan much far ahead and plan for a bigger attendance as well.. Just few people looks kind of a beer get together rather than an 8 :-) But that's just me....

TTTXGreg 11-07-2008, 10:20 AM I plan on being there at 11am. Ethan you're weak! Go meet your friend at the airport for the layover and get your ass to Georgetown!!
austin8 11-07-2008, 11:02 AM I have been really paying attention to this meet since I am a relatively new 8 owner in austin but unfortunately my car is still getting work done on it and it will not be ready for another week or so. On a good note I think I might be getting a new headliner through my insurance which is pretty cool. Sorry guys!
Drink a couple and have fun!

Show up anyway! Lots of good info to be had by those of us that are bring their cars.
austin8 11-07-2008, 12:20 PM I will be there!
sardonumsei 11-07-2008, 03:57 PM Ethan -
This one may be smaller but one of the things I want to start planning is a larger, multi-day event for next year. I think it will be fun regardless.
Also, did you get my package yet?
-Douglas
TTTXGreg 11-10-2008, 12:33 AM Had a great time, good to put faces to the folks here. What a toy shop! Neat stuff and some beautiful stereo work by Doug in his 7. Thanks for the invite.
Now for all the weak asses that didn't show up- what's the deal? There are 6 or 7 more that are local within 100 miles (most less than that). This makes it another year of big talk and no action. I had 6 show for the picnic last year. Can't seem to break that number!
On a serious note, we should entertain a plan for next spring. Maybe if it is planned far enough in advance it will draw more attendance. I'm sure most will come up with some last minute excuse anyway!! How's that for
pessimistic?! Something big with a $100.+ event registration that would include food/activities for the weekend would separate who's serious or not.:D
