Ok, so I've lived in the same place for 5 years. For the past 2+ of those years I've been there 1 - yes ONE - night a week...

Now, with the 'break' from deb I'm there 7 nights a week.

That said it still has not been:

A - Fully Painted
B - Outlet Covers
C - Microwave needs to be put up
D - Hardware changed in kitchen
E - new Carpets in two rooms
F - a host of other stupid shit
G - may tile bath and such too (but that is too be decided)...

So... I could use some help painting - not because it is tough, but I have shit I need to move around. Couch, TV, Desk, etc etc... I'm thinking of craigslisting a bunch of the stuff (and getting new, nicer, stuff) but for now I may just move it...

Not this weekend - perhaps the one after or something - I would be willing to purchase food and beer for the day and then pay for the night out in portsmouth - Eric and Augy in portsmouth would be funny - and if we get hammered enough I'll spring for hotels rooms (or if you find a girl)...

So... A work saturday, perhaps work sunday, and live it up Sat night...

Just a thought...

I'm down to help ya out Howard. This is purely for your benefit, absolutely, 100%. I'm a handy man, I don't drink nor fornicate with women. This is absolutely a selfless act to help a friend fix his place up.

Don't feed beer to minors!!. It's funny how i say that now back then when i was underage, it was different. I feel all grown up now :(

Good luck on the new place!, I'm curious on how many people will show up like they said they would.

NHskibm
10-17-2008, 12:39 PM
^^^haha.. new place... I've been there 5 years!!! it just looks like a college pad, not a respectible adult palace....

Ok, so it looks like the overwhelming answer is Saturday the 8th.... I think a kegger of Sammy might be in order... Tim has offered to do some gilling - guess we need propane....

Thanks to all for the offers on getting things... I still have a basement full of tools and such so I think I'll be alright in those regards... and I believe I still have accounts at places - the irony is that I have rehabbed 5 condos in MA in 2 years, helped Deb with hers, and worked for a development company but have never done anything to my own place...

If there are enough people the following will occur...

I'd love to tear up the old baseboard and put down new (I can get a finish gun if need be). Paint the walls - kitchen, baths, whole place basically.

Paint all trim and doors.

Rip up carpets that need ripping up.

Move whatever furniture I don't craigslist in the short term

Change lighting fixtures.

And possibly rip up linolium and lay tile... Not sure if I want to go this far as I should conceivable replace vanities...

All in all 5/6 people could tear through everything in a day with plenty of drinking and such...

psh. The smallest sealed room still has the same amount of corners as a large room, and with paint, corners are what sucks. Any nimrod can paint a large flat wall, but it's the detail work that slows painting down.

fredk. you missed the point. i'm not concerned with the amount of wall space/detail, I'll do a shitty job either way. But, if you put me a small box with intoxicants and alcohol, i'll come out really, really happy

I've got a cherry dining table, 5 wicker chairs - cherry/wicker, a large corner desk, a cherry coffee table, a 42" DLP Sony Wega LCD TV and stand, some book cases, and other stuff... I think I'm willing to sell just about everything in the place for the right price - i.e. not too much, but not for nothing... I'm pretty reasonable... The stuff mostly came from my parents and I'm sick of it!

went well... a big (HUGE) thanks for grim for helping paint the kitchen and bath... we busted out asses...

burn made a cameo this evening and used his height to aid with some light fixtures...

dub-dub not only bought my spare E30 wheels but supplied a BIG box of Harpoon...

All in all it was a solid weekend...

Kitchen was repainted, new hardware on doors, cabinets and new light fixture. New light fixtures in hallway. Bathroom was painted and vanity was painted black (From oak)... New hardware too...

short money... tons of paint... completely transformed... :)
