View Full Version : Northeast Bimmer Meet Caravan
TopasBlau46 10-07-2008, 12:41 AM This is for the RI area only. Although any BMW enthusiasts are welcome, check with this (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?p=14398892#post14398892) thread to see if these two other departure locations work out better for you.
I'm sure this will pop up eventually, and I know a few people already want a caravan to the "Northeast Bimmer Meet" setup by Samson here (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1092749).
Time of Departure: 9:30AM
Location of arrival, departure, and overall route (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=1173+Tiogue+Ave,+Coventry,+RI+02816+%28Walma rt%29&daddr=I-95+S+to:41.375746,-72.866564+to:1525+Highland+Ave+Cheshire,+CT&hl=en&geocode=FaX4ewIdp767-yHetv4p1--MUA%3BFbgVdgIdVJ-n-w%3B%3B&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=2&sz=15&via=1,2&sll=41.370271,-72.858882&sspn=0.0162,0.04416&ie=UTF8&ll=41.541959,-72.888365&spn=0.016157,0.04416&z=15)
ETA: 11:30AM, which is when the official meet begins
We are planning to meet with two groups in one caravan from MA, but this is pending depending on how many people join in from that area. Again, that list for the MA caravans are here (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?p=14398892#post14398892)

Binjammin 10-07-2008, 02:56 AM Hmmm.... maybe I should drive out to Mike's house the night before so I have an excuse to caravan back to the shop?
E30SPDFRK 10-07-2008, 02:57 AM Do it.
TopasBlau46 10-07-2008, 12:19 PM lol so are E30SPD & Binjammin in?
joshp9332 10-07-2008, 01:25 PM im in
Binjammin 10-07-2008, 01:57 PM Lol, no I was kidding. I get the feeling I should be at the shop early in case anyone shows, or I need to for whatever reason.
TopasBlau46 10-07-2008, 02:14 PM lol i was going to say.

TopasBlau46 10-07-2008, 04:44 PM what route will you take to cheshire?
I've thought about it and I'm not 100% sure yet, I have no preference.
Did you have something in mind?
konarider98 10-07-2008, 05:50 PM I'm down for a cruise. id like to meet with some people from northern mas for a cruise to RI then to CT.

This has been requested by many, someone get a caravan going from MA. As I said, I would organize it but I'm not going to be in MA, I'll be in RI so that would be silly.
E30SPDFRK 10-07-2008, 09:30 PM Yeah, I'm in. The Saab has a tow hitch worst case scenario.
greenleaf 10-07-2008, 09:54 PM i was going to take 95 to whatever from the wal-mart
TopasBlau46 10-07-2008, 11:09 PM i was going to take 95 to whatever from the wal-mart

greenleaf 10-07-2008, 11:24 PM i was thinking of using 95/91/10. i prefer to use as few state highways as possible when travelling in a group.
TopasBlau46 10-08-2008, 02:13 AM i was thinking of using 95/91/10. i prefer to use as few state highways as possible when travelling in a group.
is there a reason behind that? not that i care, i just know you have a reason :lol
TopasBlau46 10-11-2008, 11:07 AM for over 100 bimmers going, less than 10% want to caravan?
comon guys, this is a week away!
SynSyx 10-12-2008, 08:47 PM im down to caravan, but im at uconn (30 mins east of hartford), and it looks like your caravan route goes directly around me. if you end up going on a straighter route through ct instead of riding 95 the whole way im down
E30SPDFRK 10-13-2008, 12:16 AM lol, I just realized that I need to drive 40 minutes up to the wally world just so that i can cruise back down to within 10 minutes from my house.

the problem is, we'd have to take something like route 6, which has a ton of traffic lights, a ton of traffic, and a lot of turns, which will only cause issues. caravans survive much better if on highways......i wish the stupid I-84 highway project had been completed to connect hartford and providence. :mad

Which I84 project is this?
porkchopbimmer 10-13-2008, 09:45 AM me r down
TopasBlau46 10-13-2008, 03:27 PM less than a week away .. lets go guys
i'm down to meet up with you guys, but if anyone could get me an address of that walmart it would be much easier, i'd be willing to meet with any MA guys beforehand to cruise to RI
greenleaf 10-13-2008, 09:17 PM Which I84 project is this?
the highway that is now i-384 in ct was supposed to run west and connect with the 295/6 intersection in johnston, ri.....if you look at it, the highways are there, except with the parts in the middle that were never built. but i-384 was supposed to be 84, along with the part of route 6 that's divided highway.

oh i did notice that driving to hartford, thats really weird there's no direct interstate from Providence to Hartford, you have to go south, then west, then north again.

ma325e 10-14-2008, 09:42 AM this sucks im not gonna be here for it if i was i could get some north shore guys to meet with the south shore guys to cruise to ri. thn ct.

CivetaDei 10-19-2008, 03:27 AM Bad news i was all excited to go but a few problems that decided to come up in this weekend of all kinda hinder me from going . About a week ago i saw a small bump in one of my rear tires nothing major i figured it would be alright until i got new tires which Im getting monday. But the bump decided to grow and now its huge and everyone keeps telling me not to drive on it so i decided not to risk it. And i threw out something in my knee skateboarding so it hurts after clutching for 20 minutes hahaha. I effed myself pretty bad on the worst weekend
Hope everyone else has a good time still looking forward to meeting everybody so hopefully i can make an applebees meet soon:thumbup:

Lol a state highway off of an interstate isn't that specific for directions, why not just wait on the side of 95S and then jump on when you see us roll by? We're aiming to leave the walmart parking lot by 9:30am at the latest, so we should be by that exit at 10:30. otherwise call and we'll better coordinate something.
GrimReefer 10-19-2008, 09:39 AM there's a commuter lot right off the highway. just take a right off the highway and its 20 feet on the right. im sure everyone wouldnt mind taking a little break after the drive

sorry man, you should have given me a ring :(
the caravan actually ended up being slightly disorganized mainly because apparently the walmart we met at was torn down. we still managed to get i think 8 cars together or so.
did you ever go to the meet? i dont know if i saw you or not.
