View Full Version : Just won a brand new Z4!!!
Ridgeway 06-24-2003, 01:45 PM I'm a little bit hyped atm. But I entered the bmwcc contest for a Z4.
And just an hour ago 2 great guys showed up in a new Z4(actually don't get the car they drove up in but get to go to the bmw dealer & pick out the car of my choice)!!! Plus a trip to the driving school of my choice in Spartenburg(b/c tomarrow is the last day for the Z4 driving school).
:)
First thing that I've ever won!
ken_vs_ryu 06-24-2003, 01:48 PM wow thats awesome!!!
i met the guy who won the M5 that madonna used in Superstar.
what options are you getting? color?
can you add money and get an m3?
tripleM 06-24-2003, 01:54 PM Congrats! Great topless weather coming up! Hope you trick it out to the max!
count_schemula 06-24-2003, 01:54 PM So that's how they are moving those things!
Just kidding, congrats, that's awesome.
Dark Helmet 06-24-2003, 01:58 PM can you sell it for a Z3??? :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
IgotMy18s 06-24-2003, 02:08 PM dam nice..i wish I could win stuff like that
BoostedE21 06-24-2003, 02:16 PM How does one enter thinks like that? BTW congrates, post pics when you get it.
Loud_TIGER 06-24-2003, 02:38 PM whoa. i want a Z4

Hahaha, seriously tho, I rarely see them. I'd also ask if you can add money and get an M3 or something. I thought a M version of the Z4 was coming out, so ask if you can hold out for that. Congrats!
rotorhed 06-24-2003, 03:46 PM Congrats, I bought two tickets for it, guess they can go in the trash with the Powerball tics for this week.
If you're a BMWCCA member you should get periodic e-mails or postcards regarding drawings like this.
SilverStreak 06-24-2003, 04:50 PM Holy crap! Congrats! And welcome to the Z3/Z4 Forum! :buttrock
Ridgeway 06-24-2003, 05:14 PM As far as entering, a month or so ago I got some info from BMWCC about entering, so I sent in my money. I thought I paid $100 for 7 chances to win, but apparently I only recieved 1 chance(I paid for it via credit card), but the guys that brought the car over said I was the first person chosen!!! First thing I have ever really won. Just wish I could afford to have it "really mine, but I"ll settle for using it on the weekends for now. :)
Only problem is that I'm 18, so affording tax & insruance is a little hard(tax is going to be over $10k), so I'm going to "share" it with my mom(yeah I still live @ home), ie I get to drive it when I want, but she is the primary on it, and will sell her current car(a 1999 323i, and I'll keep my car). But still pretty cool.
We have already been to BMW and I just drove home the one I think we are going to get.
A 2003 Z4 2.5i in Merlot Red, with a black top & black leather/interior, with the premium package, heated front seats, foglights, premium sound w/DSP.
Oh, and it is a 5 speed. :)
The sport package would be nice, but the only Z4s with it are 3.0's, which would be too much b/c of taxes.
Yes, I could use it towards a M3(can get any BMW, just have to make up the difference), but like I said @ 18 coming up with another $20k or so isn't a real feasible option.
Anyways, I'm going back out driving. :)
Thanks all. :)
count_schemula 06-24-2003, 05:34 PM If you can at all swing it, the 3.0 is a lot better than the 2.5. Not to be a shit on your special day. Be sure to drive both.
The 3.0 will have more resale as well.
Renee M Coupe 06-24-2003, 07:02 PM That is great!! Congratulations!
Too bad you have to pay tax, but it is worth it.
I made a new friend at work who has a black 2.5 Z4. We go to lunch in it once in a while. The cool thing is that it is a girl and she is already talking about getting short shift kit and new wheels.
Holy Crap! I am not the only female car nut out there!
Alex.M 06-24-2003, 07:07 PM How will the tax on this car be calculated?
Is it at around 50% or something?
Ridgeway 06-24-2003, 07:19 PM I've driven both teh 2.5 & 3.0 today. No doubt the 3.0 is better, but hey I'm coming from a 318i, so the 2.5 is fast to me. :)
The tax on it I'm told will be first 28% income tax(~$10k give or take there), plus the usual tax when you buy a new car(dunno what they will run). So it will be alot, not to mention what insurance might be(hence it not being "my car" atm).
At least the performance driving school isn't taxed I hope lol.
BTW anyone done any of the schools? I'm hoping to do the M School. :)
Back to driving. c-ya
Iron Chef 06-24-2003, 08:37 PM I heard you had to be 21 for the M school.
IwantMCoupe 06-24-2003, 09:39 PM ah, that sucks about the income tax. i dont think it's fair that the govt taxes a gift that is not money, but whatever. congrats
oh and renee i wish you lived here, there are no girls into cars here!
Dark Helmet 06-24-2003, 11:21 PM its not a gift, its a prive because he bought a raffle ticket. yes, it sucks, but it could be way worse.
if you are unlucky enough to have to pay estate tax when you die (or your estate does, i guess), and you have improperly-titled retirement plan assets... kiss away 70%+... in some states it approaches 80%. think about hearing "uncle ned left you $10,000, but now its only worth $2200" that shit really happens.
SilverStreak 06-25-2003, 09:25 AM Perhaps look into a 3.0 with less options for roughly the same price as the 2.5 in question. For every $1000, that's $280 more in taxes....
Maybe even a stripper 3.0... :dunno
Dark Helmet 06-25-2003, 10:55 AM why not a CPO M Coupe??? :D:D
SilverStreak 06-25-2003, 11:03 AM I don't think that was the prize.... :D
Wow, congrats! I always see these raffles for different types of cars but never heard about anyone winning. Sucks about the taxes but it definitely could be worse. Have fun and take some pics!!
Ridgeway 06-25-2003, 11:41 AM Would love to get an M coupe. But they have none on the lot, except an imola red m roadster, but it's a '98(and is still like $33k)...
The Z3's they currently have also don't seem to be anything special, ie don't think there are any 3.0's w/manual.
BTW the 3.0 w/o options stickers @ $40250, which is exactly what they would give me, but some options would be nice instead of incredibly spartan...
Anyways, going out now to sign the papers, then more crusing :)
Couldn't ask for much better top-down weather. :)
SilverStreak 06-25-2003, 12:04 PM go to www.bmwusa.com and mess around with the option groups and prices, etc...
BumbleZ 06-25-2003, 01:49 PM A 'stripper' 3.0 should cost the same as your well-optioned 2.5 !!
Remember, the 3.0 comes with a lot more standard equipment than the 2.5.
Z3Don 06-25-2003, 01:50 PM Now thats the SHIZZ-NIZZ!!!...YOUR ONE LUCKY SON-OVA-BE-OTCH!!!..Enjoy the ride young man...wish I was pimpin a new drop top when I was 18! Now you can say to all the hoe's that did'nt look twice b4..."Drop top BM I'm the man girlfriend!" Happy motoring:handclap
ruffytdog 06-25-2003, 06:51 PM Just wondering, but could you have taken a cash equivalent instead of the car. I know some contests has that, but the gov't will still tax you on that anyway.
Anyway, I'm jealous. If you win the next Oktoberfest drawing, I'm going to have to hate you. ;)
Congrats.
Mike
sirtiger 06-25-2003, 07:07 PM congrats u lucky duck!
Ridgeway 06-25-2003, 09:05 PM yes I could have opted to take the cash...but that wouldn't have been nearly as much fun :)
BMWBOY 06-25-2003, 09:17 PM WOW, Congtrats
I am sure you will love it!
NickC 06-26-2003, 01:03 AM "yes I could have opted to take the cash...but that wouldn't have been nearly as much fun"
Oh....My....God......
Dood, TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN!! Buy an E36 M3, buy a Z3 ///M roadster, hell buy a twin turbo Supra or something and still have money left in your pocket for taxes and insurance! All those cars are twice the vehicle that Z4 is!
ARGH! How come I never win anything and get to be smart about it!??!?!
:bawl
chip4 06-26-2003, 05:08 AM Lucky bastid!
themadhatter 06-26-2003, 06:28 AM wow, nice!
BoostFed325 06-26-2003, 06:40 AM dude thats awesome.
i love the z4!
SilverStreak 06-26-2003, 06:58 AM Cash equivalent- what's the limit/upper-end? I realize you'd still pay income tax on it (28%), but that could open a few other doors for you...
Have fun and congrats!...
...and, what? No women into cars in MI? You got to be kidding. Or did the last one leave when I did???
Phattydave 06-26-2003, 06:10 PM Cooper S :)
Ridgeway 06-26-2003, 06:40 PM The cash would be $40,250. So after taxes ~$28,500 give or take a couple hundred. BTW I do get the cash that I save under that amount- though after taxes and selling the 323i I'll still owe money. :( The Z4 I bought was stickered @ $38.8k and I think I got it for $36.9k, and traded a '99 323i in for $18k.
But still hard to argue with getting a brand new car nearly free- though insurance is not pretty.
SilverStreak 07-01-2003, 12:14 PM Congrats again, man. Get us some pics!
///MZG 07-01-2003, 12:23 PM Glad you won man! Don't listen to the Z4 haters! If you like it, drive it! Sometimes I think that I am the only onw who thinks they are nice. I really like the look of the front (it reminds me of a Z8).
A brand new car is dope! I may have done the cash plus a loan to get into an e46 M3, but I am a little older so insurance would be reasonable.
Again, congrats are in order!
Ridgeway 07-01-2003, 02:19 PM thx again
& pics probally won't be up till the end of the week(unfortunitly I can buy a new car but not my own digital camera, so I always end up bugging a friend till he can come & take shots for me...)
SilverStreak 07-01-2003, 03:03 PM I hear ya on being sans digicam... :D
rotorhed 07-01-2003, 10:04 PM hmmmm just got the CCA Oktoberfest M3 Raffle sheet in the mail today.
Maybe I'll buy 3 tix this time.......:cashwalle
Ridgeway 07-02-2003, 12:01 AM I'm definitly entering that heh- would be something to win(though in reality I'll never win another thing in my entire life)!
The odds don't look too bad though, 1 in 2900.
count_schemula 07-02-2003, 12:36 AM I'm entering as well. Me too! Me too! I want a tax problem!
Looks like the odds are 1:2903

WAY better odds than the lottery! Im entering too with more tickets this year!
Congrats and good luck with it.. I wish I was that lucky.. never won a thing in my life. :(
SilverStreak 07-02-2003, 07:52 AM Count, don't worry, to keep the odds favorable, they probably only sell a pre-determined amount of tickets, so once they are all sold, they are gone... so it's still 1:2900....
Ridgeway 07-10-2003, 12:00 AM ok finally got a couple half decent pics

Congratulations Ridgeway, that is a beautiful car,
I thought I read that they'll take in all tickets and give away as many cars as they have to to keep the odds 1:2900, and for the last drawing if there are only say 1000 entries a cash award would be given reflecting the 1:1000 odds with that fraction of the cash value of the car.
I'm only putting one entry in, it will have to be "The One".
SilverStreak 07-13-2003, 03:48 PM Even better!! :buttrock
