Hey everyone. I used to an an e36 328is, and I sometimes really miss it. I sold my e36 with the intention of upgrading to an M3 but bought the s2000 after a few test drives. I have been looking more and more at the e36 m3's again and I am thinking about a trade. If anyone with an e36 m3 is looking for a trade, let me know. So here are the details about my s2k.
I bought the car in April. It is a Silverstone metallic s2k. I bought it at 59k miles, it now has 67,xxx miles. I have daily driven it this summer since I bought it and it has been problem free.
The Good:
The engine/tranny is near perfect. I just bought two new rear tires last week, Hankook Ventus r-s2 (very sticky summer tires). Upgraded shift knob, cold air intake, lowered on good springs. Paint is very nice with the exceptions of two scratches mentioned later in the post. Interior is is super good condition, 9/10. Aftermarket Sony cd player with an Aux input you can hook up an Ipod/mp3 player. The car handles extremely well. I have changed the oil 3 times since I have had the car, full synthetic Mobil one. And I have changed the tranny and differential fluid as well. The car has a valid inspection and passes everything, except the car has 35% tints. The wheels are painted black, and I just repainted them 2 weeks ago. (If you look at the pictures, the wheels are a very dirty black color, since they have been repainted they look much better and fresh.)
Issues:
There are a few issues that I haven't had the chance to fix yet. The soft top has a rip in the rear plastic window, which is pretty common on the s2k's. I have it sealed with plastic and there is no leakage at all, and really doesn't bother me cause I drive top down 9/10 days. I am eventually going to order a new top with a glass rear window for $600 and install myself, if I keep the car.
The front rotors are also warped and needs new front pads replaced. I have a set of oem front pads sitting in my room, and the rotors oem can be had for $90 each, or aftermarket oem-spec for $6o each.
The car also experienced something called 'clutch buzz' which is extremely common on these cars. Basically, when you are in second or third and decellerating, there is a buzzing noise which comes from the clutch area. This is not a sign that anything is wrong, its just something that happens as the earlier models used a different type of retainer clips or something. You can read all about that on any s2k forum (s2ki.com is the best). My transmission and clutch is near perfect, just makes the common noise.
The front lip has a scratch on it that some touch up paint would fix, and there are 2 small scratchs on the rear bumper. The previous owner ran some debris over and it bounced up and made a scratch.
Overall the car is in excellent condition. With the exceptions of the soft top (which is fine, doesnt leak, just has the sealed hole) and 2 small scratches, the car is fantastic.
What I am looking for:
E36 M3, 5-speed only. I am not interest in any other e36 models, so no 328, 325, engine swaps, just e36 m3's. I might also consider a Mini Cooper S.
Needs to be 2 door, with as little mods as possible.
So, 5 speed, 2 doors, non vert, very little mods. I am not to picky about color, but would prefer a green, and really anything except black. Vaders are a must.
~100k miles or below. I would be looking for an even trade, as I have no money to give on top of it, or my car for your m3 + some cash depending the car.
PM me if you have an e36 m3 or a Mini Cooper S for trade.

The wheels have since been repainted, so all of the brown on the wheels are gone.
I am not looking to sell the car outright, just trades. Also, I have no problem keeping the car, and I will probably end up keeping it, so there is no rush for me to trade or anything, I am just looking to see what is out there.
Thanks
The Car is officially for sale! Asking price is $14k or trade for a nice e36 M3 + cash
