Besides the obvious headlight, taillight, steering wheel differences, what else is there?
It seems that the 2001 models fetch $5k-10k more on average than the 2000 models.
Thanks
The NAV screen is bigger on the 2001+ also - centered in the console, with buttons on either side. The older ones had a smaller NAV screen on the right side of the center console with buttons on the left.
I would also guess that the '03s have DVD-based NAV instead of CD-based.
Not an expert though, hopefully you'll get some better responses!

Im not sure, but i own a 2000 M5, and i think that 2001 and on have different mirrors. I know they might look the same, but i noticed that my 2000 fold in a different direction than 2001 and up. but im not sure on that.:dunno

The only differences are:
New headlights/taillights
Grey-faced gauges
New NAV screen
Slightly different finish on wheels (darker)
A couple different colors
New steering wheel (same as E46 M3)
In 2002: In-dash CD is available along with front PDC
In 2003: DVD-NAV

Really... was not aware of that. I guess I did hear of some problems with '00 vanos.

00 models had vanos issues that were corrected in 01.
Whoa, that's some good, pertinent info there guys. That explains a lot about the valuation.
This forum is great for info like this! Thanks

There was a TSB out, and those who had the problem were fixed.
Thanks for the info guys!

I see how ancient this thread is, but I had the same question, and thanks for the info guys.
Who knows if I will pull the trigger, but as I get older I'm starting to look at the big old 5! :D
