I've got a problem with the left LAD shock on my 89 750. The shock makes noise when you drive the car at or below 30 mph. But when you go faster the noise goes away. Also when you jack the rear of the car up with a jackstand the top of the metal rod is exposed all the rubber pieces are pushed down and I cant push them back up. Anyone have any ideas what to try besides replacing the shock.

Have you removed the rear seat and looked at the top shock mount to see if it's loose?

I'd recommend you simply remove that shock out of the car and see exactly what it needs and why it makes noise.

This way you don't spend any money, just time. Once it's in your hands you can inspect it closer and see what's ailing you.
