This is a picture of the Racing Dynamics front spoiler advertised at price $660 + shipping $129. A new CSI replacement for my broken CSI bumper will cost $669 plus shipping. Since the cost differential is a wash, my questions are: 1. Has anyone on this site installed or had any experience with the RD bumper? 2. If so, was installation simple without requiring modifications? 3. Does it have more ground clearance than the CSI? 4. What is your opinion regarding the look of the left and right chin spoilers? 5. Is there a provision for installing a license plate if my State wants one?

Whale, depending on your level of anality (sic) the spoiler from Electrodyne is Racing Dynamics in name only. Although the same mold, the composition is different than the carbon/kevlar used by RD Sports (Racing Dynamics Italy), and it's priced accordingly at $1940. The only one I've seen in person is on Jim Gavrity's K55 and can tell you it looks fantastic-it's my favorite of all the options out there. As it happens Jim's is a spoiler that was added during the still-happy marriage of Racing Dynamics US and Italy, hence the non carbon/kevlar. He complained of a VERY slight radius difference on either side where it joins the nose but IMO was a very negligable misalignment. The stock picture you see from Electrodyne has the optional grille filler piece not included with the spoiler. Euro and US plate holders can be installed normally. I cannot speak at this time as to ease of installation but will eventually because it is without a doubt what I will put on my car. My .03 (?:stickoutt)

For those that might be considering this modification, I queried Racing Dynamics (Electrodyne) and this was their reply:
"We're sorry to say that we just recently sold the last one of the E31 bumpers from stock; it will be several months before more are available. Regarding your questions:
1) no mods required; however this part is not a bumper replacement but attaches to the factory bumper.
2) we don't know about ground clearance compared to the CSI bumper.
3) the factory plate holder would have to be remounted on the spoiler."

Anyone have any suggestions for other attractive spoiler alternatives?

I bought mine with the bumper broken as yours and I reinforced it, I truly believe that any picture can look good... but the reality may not be the same... I personally dont buy what I cant physically see...

Once I was shopping for a new radio for my 850 cause the bmw radios are too simple and I wanted something revamped cause the car is like that...on my extended research I found out that the design of the dash and console and everything its a picasso...Why would I change it????... at the end I did change it for a newer model bmw radio...I dont feel I change the picasso...butbit sure looks better...
