In the process of removing my damaged CSI bumper I noticed these two items. I am curious as to their function. The location is on the passenger side ahead of the wheel. One is some kind of electrical sensor inside of an air scoop. The other is a cannister which is duplicated in the same position on the driver side.

Thanks. Is the similar cannister on the drivers side another Air Conditioner Dryer?

that is the Brake Presssure Accumulator (Brake Bomb)

Being a recent owner of an 8, I was always curious when seeing reference on this site to the "brake bomb". The accumulator appearance is so different from other cars that I have owned in that they are usually a big circular unit attached to the brake master cylinder. I assume that the 8 "brake bomb" accumulator performs the same function. Why do they call it a "Bomb"?

because of it's shape?

...ever remove one that is still under pressure??
That is why they probably call it a bomb.
