i just used lexol cleaner and conditioner for the first time and my seats are not slippery. instead it seems like you stick to them instead of sliding on them. i have been using other leather cleaners and conditioners that left my seats slippery. is it normal that by using lexol they are not slippery? the seats look cleaned and the leather feels nice but the surface is not slick.

You might not have rinsed it off well enough. I'd let it sink in for a few more days and if it's not supple and smooth by, say, Wednesday, take a damp sponge and go over the seats, then go over them with a terry towel.

Just as a side note, when Lexol says to mix with water they MEAN it. You have to use PLENTY of water to get good suds.

I agree it is a bit messy, but I have yet to try out a better leather cleaner. I've heard really good things about Leatherique, but haven't gotten around to buying any.

Lexol isn't *that* messy though is it? I just use a bucket of lukewarm water, a sponge, the bottle, and a terry towel. Soak the sponge, wring part of the water out, squirt the Lexol onto the leather, rub it around to a good lather and scrub what you need to scrub, then towel the leather off...

I always do that before I extract/steam the carpets, of course.

I’m working on a cleaning and re-dying project right now. I’ve gone through the cleaning process about three times and the leather gets cleaner and softer with each application, especially the tops of the rear seats, which had become hardened from the direct sunlight coming through the rear windshield. I’ll do this one or two more times at least before I get into the dye phase, which involves a little wet-sanding with their prepping agent to break down the old dye. I’ve actually tried this on a few small areas and to my surprise you really can sand leather without ruining it, and the old dye breaks down very quickly.

I’ve also found that the crack filler works very well. It’s supposed to readily accept the dye, but I haven’t tried this yet.

If I have any of the Rejuvenator Oil & Pristine Clean left over when I’m done I’ll let you give it a try. Leatherique offers a nice discount if you have a BMWCCA membership and buy the two products together (in 16 oz or 32 oz. quantities).

One other thing - the Rejuvenator Oil makes you hands silky smooth! :D

Mojo -- Yeah I'd definitely like to try a pinch of it sometime if you have any left over. The leather on my mom's '98 Altima is pretty dirty and needs conditioning -- tan leather, yanno?

Hal -- How much is the DACP? I might as well just buy a bottle...can't be too expensive...but you can buy the bottle off of me if I don't like the results I get on my test trunklid...:D
