as my previous post I'm doing the water pump in the 850 and found two things, 1 the t-stat was broken and 2 the peice is (at the moment) in the water pump. so two questions, 1 do you need to take the crank pulley/reluctor wheel off to get the water pump out, and 2 have any of you ran into the t-stat issue (should i try ro fish the peice out before pulling the pump?) so far I could'nt get it out:eek:

Yes, you have to remove the crank pulley / damper. But, it's a great opportunity to clean and inspect things. Like your crank position sensors, etc.
As for the pump-yes remove the entire thing and replace it since you have it off, and replace the waterpump bolts with stainless steel units, coated with anti-seize compound. You'd hate to have to do all this again, right?
