Update!!! New Cruise Route!!

Allright guys I'm making this official now. I will be holding a cruise/meet on the TSP on October 19, 2008. We will be meeting at a branch building of Westchester Medical Center at 10 a.m. The address to this building is 19 Bradhurst Ave. Hawthorne, N.Y. It's just on the other side of the TSP/SBP from the main WCM building. I figure we will all meet here and what not for 2 hours. Then we will leave from here at 12 noon and get on the TSP north. It's a little difficult to get alot of cars on at the same time because its kind of a small on ramp, but it will work. From there we will all cruise north to Lake Taghkanic. It should be about an hour and a half ride. Lake Taghkanic has its own entrence off the TSP so it is very easy to find, plenty of signs. If I remember correctly there was a small parking fee to get in the park, but I'm not sure if there is on Sunday's. There is a beach on the Lake and plenty of room to do whatever. We will be BBQ'ing here. I'll provide the burgers/hot dogs I just ask that you guys bring any snacks/drinks that you want. So thats it guys, just PM me or post on here who is planning on coming and with how many people. Let me know if you have any other ideas too. I realy would like to get a decent turn out in hopes that this becomes an anual fall meet/cruise. :buttrock
Okay guys so I've been thinking about this alot and I felt that maybe the cruise should be a little longer. So I extended the route a little. It will end up crossing into Mass., back into N.Y. and we will still end at Lake Taghkanic. I do not have a map with the new route highlighted yet (if someone would like the make one for me that would be awesome) so please bare with me. I will list all the directions here and post a map for you guys to follow along. It is very easy and I feal will be worth it. Like I said we will still be meeting at the same spot in Wetchester and ending at Lake Taghkanic. So here it is...

North on TSP to Rte. 23 east
Right onto Rte. 22 south
Left onto N. Mountain Rd.
Left onto Sunset Rock Rd., crossing into Mass. this turns into West St.
Left onto Hatch Hill Rd. which becomes East St.
Right onto West St.
Left onto Falls Rd. crossing back into N.Y. this becomes Rte. 344
Right onto Valley View Rd.
Quick left onto Old Rte. 22
Quick left onto Rte. 22
Right onto Rte. 199
Right onto Rte. 82
Left onto Lake Taghkanic Rd.

The last time was on the Taconic (about 2 summers ago) it was so rough it nearly shook my fillings loose. Have they done any repair/repaving since then?

Hello guys. New to the forum. Long time BMW driver from Beacon, NY. I will be available for the Taconic drive for sure! My current stable is a 87 528e, 01 525i and my better 1/2's 03 325xi. We are also interested in starting a BMW drive at least twice, maybe once per month in the hudson valley/tri-state area. I see that some of you guys are from the Poughkeepsie area. I just shake my head when I see muscle car meets every Friday in Fishkill and rice rocket meets along 9 in Wappingers all the time. I wonder, "what about BMW meets and drive"?! Anyone in the area who would like to help me start this up, please let me know. I would like for it to be consistant, not just once in a blue moon.....

I'd come but I dunno if my 64 Buick will be able to drive that far without filling up 20 times....

ummmm, we are sched. to leave WCMC at noon and it should be a 2-2 1/2 hour ride. so i'm gunna say we will be at the lake around 2:30. you should join in the last leg of the cruise when we pass the lake on TSP.

I'll give a tentative yes as to being there. There's no telling if the car is going to be down for repairs or not, but I'll definitely try and make it.
