yes , i remember seeing that thing. it's just a matter of how sensible it is to install in a car that will not be worth anything more than 10 grand within any feasable time

Ya the only thing i keep thinking is how soon till some one looses a arm or leg to that thing....? or will it have a sensor?
Other than that im all for inovation think of how far into technology we would be if we didnt have laws, politics and things of that nature slowing us down.

IIRC the hydraulics were a nightmare.
How long before the doors have vertical scratches from rocks and debris in the below door cavity?
Lighter is the current bye word in this era of Fuel Economy or Bust :(
Adding something like this goes the other way.
Of course if US gas prices go down another 30 cents per gallon the car dealers won't be able to keep a SUV in the lot long enough to wash it twice.

Seems unsafe for a door to do all that bending to tuck itself can't be to strong when needed for protection. Our doors are plenty strong!

the door itself isn't doing the bending it is hinged at the sides.
but hwat i am thinking of is all the weight from atuators and such.
as well as it will pretty much cover everthing one needs to get to at times.
also... i thought our cars are pretty low as it is...
