ImageDynamicsM3 06-12-2003, 03:09 PM Hey, I got a citation for my window tint (yippie) and I was wondering how do I go about it? Do I write to the court saying that I have removed the tint, and enclose an older photo of the car? Do I request a hearing to do the same, but in person. Or do I go to my originally scheduled court date and do the same? I don't really feel like paying another 100 bucks since thats how much it just cost me to put the fronts on LOL
Thanks ;)
dan330 06-12-2003, 05:49 PM So what is your tint %?
84_318i 06-12-2003, 08:01 PM "you gotta really piss off a cop to give you a ticket for window tint!"
-My manager said that.. LOL
I'd say go to the court date on the citation and say "look, I took it off cause i didn't know it wasn't up to legal parr.." It's such a bullshit ticket they'll prob just drop it..
Or you can try and take it to trial, cause they'll NEVER take a tint citation to trial.. Even if they go with it you can go around and take pics of other cars with tint.. Even cop cars.. Cause they have major tint on the undercover cars..
My boss even offered to help you fight the ticket cause he thinks it's rediculous.. :-D
ImageDynamicsM3 06-13-2003, 12:41 AM it was 11% according to his little dealy-oh
ImageDynamicsM3 06-13-2003, 12:42 AM Thanks for the advice Emily, I appreciate you and your bosses help
dan330 06-13-2003, 12:57 AM that is dark. Good luck
m42technic 06-13-2003, 01:03 AM He probably only added it on becuase of the speeding ticket you got...
btw, did he notice the tint on your front window?
ImageDynamicsM3 06-13-2003, 01:15 AM haha.. they looked at it.. and are like "you don't have tint on the front do you?" and I was like.. I dont think so.. and he said "yeh, it doesn't look like it" LOL

not a problem adam..
LLuke 06-16-2003, 04:27 AM Just saw this thread.
I'm not familiar with tint tickets but I'll give you my ticket fighting plan.
If I have to go to court I figure I still have 2 options.
If the cop was cool, show up on the scheduled date and be Mr. nice guy. Sometimes if you play by the rules, show up dressed nice, and make a good case, the cop or the judge will let you off.
Option 2:
Be a pain in the ass. Change your court date (best thing to do is less then a week in advance) and hope it messes the cop up. Unfortunately this may piss off him and the judge. Yet if the cop was already an ass...you may lose nothing.
Using an old photo of your car is an excellent idea. I'd do that on your originally scheduled court date. Although I'm not sure if it will get you out of a ticket. A fix it ticker? Probably. An actual citation? Possibly not as you did commit a crime (ooooohhhhhhh tint! What a crime! Fucking pigs) and the fact that you have now removed the tint doesn't excuse you from having it at the time of the citation.
Good luck bro.

Did this make sense? I'm fucking tired as hell typing this.
ImageDynamicsM3 06-16-2003, 10:20 PM Yeh, you did good Eric.. My next question is... I have traffic school THIS saturday and court is on the 24th... Now if I didn't have another citation on my ticket (just the speeding only) and I went to traffic school. I wouldn't have to goto court and pay the ticket. So now that I have to go to court for the tint citation, do I now have to pay 2 times (once for traffic school, and another for the citation?) or will I just have to pay the tint fine (if they don't let me off?)
ImageDynamicsM3 06-16-2003, 10:20 PM I hope you can understand that gibberish :) thanks Eric for the reply
84_318i 06-16-2003, 11:38 PM I'm pretty sure that'll the tint fine will be separate.. I dont think they have a class for the correct tint that the dmv puts out.. ;) :D
Which one is your class going to be at BTW?
ImageDynamicsM3 06-17-2003, 12:20 AM 83rd and Bell this Saturday.. Won't be with James
LLuke 06-17-2003, 02:45 AM I'd say you would probably just have to pay the tint fine, but I am kinda unsure of what you are asking.

damn dude.. i have class with james too.. we coulda had a tea party.. :embarrasm
I heard that if you make like 2 or 3 motions for continuance putting the court date off that pigs get confused and/or don't care enough to come (especially if its for tint). Make sure to have semi-believable excuses for your motions though. You might wanna contact a lawyer buddy you may have and ask him about it.
ImageDynamicsM3 06-18-2003, 09:53 PM it's not worth it to do shit like that. I will just be cool with the judge and ask him politely to consider letting me off for it being a first time offence
