View Full Version : AutoX or track time
hootie 08-07-2008, 11:37 AM I just wanted to know if there would be some AutoX or track events before I leave for school (Sept. 15). I have built the car all summer and I really want to try it out on a track before I go back.
Thanks guys
Hootie
StealthBM 08-07-2008, 11:48 AM You should sign up with the Boston BMWCCA chapter. There is a auto-x event this Sunday at Fort Devens but booked up already. Aug 24 and 25 there will be events at Devens and NHMS.
hootie 08-07-2008, 12:04 PM Yeah I saw those. I was wondering if there was any other events before I signed up. I really want some on track experience

I bought an HJC AR-10 from them. Priced well and awesome quality IMO.

Just buy any snell 2005 rating helmet. if you are just going to do an few autox's here and there that is all you need.

I might want to do some track events too. Would that be fine for that?

StealthBM 08-07-2008, 05:01 PM Most local motorcycle shops will sell helmets or go to HMS motorsport and F1 Boston for one.
WMC = White Mountain chapter of BMWCCA Check out the sites for more infos on local events and membership.http://www.wmc-bmwcca.org/

Yes. For just doing a few De's autox's and 1/4 mile runs at the strip a regular snell m2005 is fine. That is what I have. In order to be certified to race or whatnot you need a snell sa 2005, those are like 250+. Mine was like 70 shipped.
ESMcBlurM3 08-07-2008, 06:19 PM what's to keep me from setting up some cones in my parking lot on a slow day and just tearing it up?

First no timer and nobody to help you pick up the cones when your M3 eats them up. :devillook

I would be so down. Make your own AutoX.

All we need is an abandoned parking lot the cops don't know about. I'm down.
I'd say auto-x is much more accessible than a HPDE. Much less chance of something going wrong and really challenging, at least for me. Definitely check it out. I think there's only the 8/24 BMWCCA before you leave but I'm sure if you google Auto-X you'll find something.
