Frustrating. Darn SES light goes on for a few days, then goes off for a few, then comes back, etc...fuel mileage doesn't really suffer (then again, I am only avg 12-14 in the city haha :help) when the light is on...so I am not all too concerned...

I hope it is just a loose gas cap or O2 sensor....:shifty

Sounds like a camshaft position sensor or an HFM. At least that's what my parent's 4.4L did when those went bad, if those are the problems they're easy fixes :)

I'd definitely read the codes and go from there. Even though the light is back out the codes should be present. Just as an example my 4.4i did the same thing and the codes were misfires on all cylinders.

The car would only do it with the air on in 100F heat. Long story short after a lot of testing it turned out to be a self distructing AC compressor that shook just right and made the knock sensors think it was misfiring. So it can be a lot of different things, but the codes should point you in the right direction.

I've had the code read before. It involved the o2 sensor. Once i get some more money, I'll just take to my shop and have them fix/repair whatever it is (assuming it's not going to cost an arm/leg/1st born).

Ali, yeah, I hope it is something minor like a sensor throwing the SES light.

All I know is that she drives like normal with or without the light (according to my butt dyno :stickoutt)
