I need a hitch for my 2001 BMW X-5 the dealers in Victoria and Vancouver are unable to source one for me, they have told me that BMW is remaking the hitch and unavailable. Does anyone know where I may be able to purchase the wiring harness and or the hitch set?

Yes the E53 trailer hitches are on back order at the moment. It sucks I could have sold a few in the past month.

Any idea how long these back orders take?

There are companies who sell hitches, you could probably find one online.

Scour your local BMW dealers. They may have one lying around. I just found an OEM hitch at my local dealer, but it took some convincing for them to sell it to me. I guess it's a hot commodity now that it's on backorder. They were hoping to save it for warranty repairs or to pair with a used X5 sale.

dont get the aftermarket ones, cause they look like crap.

dont use aftermarket wiring, they fawk everything up.

dealer will charge 6 hours labor to install one.
