Well, not really clowned because I knew it coming...I saw him hop on the highway I was driving down, noticed the aftermarket exhaust and the boost gauge on the A-pillar...Everything said this probably was a 400+ hp ringer....Well, I passed the guy and as soon as he got a look at my tail he jumped into the next lane and flew by me....Oh yeah...I don't know if he had 400 horse, but there were some ponies running under that hood....We get to the next light, but traffic was blocking...We both ran slow till we got some space in front of us, still in first I nail it....He walked me by at least one car before I hit the limiter...doh...Probably the best though because first gear reeled in traffic pretty quick. We tried one more time, but he caught me in the basement of third and I didn't go anywhere....This dude was fast as hell though, sounded like sh#$....I hated the sound of his exhaust, which, unfortunately was all I ever got to hear...:)....I can't say I'd ever own one though...Had a friend get T-boned doing 30mph in one of those cars....Killed both him and the passenger...Not a whole lot to those cars, but aside from that DAMN!!! Fast bastage...:)

Is that the Renesis rotary? In the new Road & Track they're talking about possibly putting the Renesis in the new Miata. They're also trying a 250hp V6 in there.

Yeah fast, but they need a rebuild every 20K miles.. I know a kid that had 5 engine rebuilds.... 2 clutch, 1 gearbox..
No wonder they stopped making them.

The better car to own for that type of power is the Supra...

Yeah, my dad had an 84 RX-7, it was pretty fast, but he basically gave it away after the engine died. Rotary engines are not on the reliable side either, but oh well, let's hope they've fixed that problem for the RX-8

I smoked a modded RX-7 TT from a stoplight a few years ago. Of course that was when I still had my modded 300ZX TT :D

RX-7 motors can last, if they are taken care of. Sloppy maintenance that is passable on most cars can cause a rotory engine to blow its seals.

I agree with Greg though, for that type of power, better to get a Supra. However, if you want a car that is better balanced, get the FD.

FD is the internal code for the 3rd Gen. RX-7's
FC is the internal code for the 2nd Gen. RX-7's

...kinda like E21, E30, E36, and E46 for the 3'ers....

I used to have an FC, btw...now I have an E46!:D
