Ok so a couple of months ago we bought a 1992 Cadillac El dorado 4.9 V8 what what I was told was a harmonic balancer knock. Well after a while of saving cash up I personally seeing as my parents said they will have it fixed later bought the part and took the car to pepboys (down the friggin street) and was gonna have them change it. They told me that its a rod knock and needs rebuild/new engine :( So I need your help someone who will buy it of me for the same price i bought it which is $1500 The body, Paint, Interior ARE PERFECT! car is absolutely perfect exept for the engine. So I need you help because i think thats worth $1500 so if you know anyone who will buy it from me please do tell.
The car belonged to a grandma all its life.
The rear seats hadn't been sat in until me the other day. EVER. its an amazing ride please help.

Also it had a water pump replaced latley and some other stuff done

Are you really going to trust the mechanics at Pepboys to diagnose rod knock? You may want to get a second opinion from a credible repair shop. I've seen E36s that were diagnosed for having rod knock. The customer was ready to pay a few thousand for a factory rebuilt motor. In actuality, it was just a loose spark plug. General repair shops cannot know everything about every car. That is why there are specialist for each brand.

ive had it diagnosesd at this shop called stableack auto or whatever the hell it is they also told me it was a lower rod knock but that shop has been known to lie for money

ftrecord, it is rocketship fast... I sold a seville sts 300hp/300tq v8 n* to my buddy, who also had an el deezy, v8 n*, same motor... shits are rocket ships.. and the interior of this one seems to be very clean except for that gear select shifter...
