View Full Version : washing PC pads SilverBeam 06-06-2003, 10:03 PM What are the rules for cleaning these guys? MDR 06-06-2003, 10:32 PM foam pads - agitate gently in a bucket of water with dishsoap, change water and repeat. Rinse by agitating gently in a bucket of clear water. light kneading to dry. some advocate putting on the pc and spinning, but others suggest that this will cause the velcro to delam from the pads. wool bonnet- don't wash, only clean with a spur ClintonM3 06-06-2003, 10:45 PM Yup. Hose, soak, knead, air dry. Like a sponge. ClintonM3 06-06-2003, 11:02 PM You've been wondering here a lot lately, when are we going to see some pics of your work. SilverBeam 06-07-2003, 12:13 AM well clinton, soon. I brought the digi home from the office. If I can figure out how to clear the card and load the pictures, there will be pictures of my car up shortly. The car should look pretty spectacular. I started it around 3, it's 9 now and I'm still going (some how, taking a caffeine break now). There is more reflection in the paint then there has ever been before, and I don’t' even have the Klasse on it yet! Right after I used the 3M rubbing compound my dad said that the car looked better than it ever did before it was mine. When I was done with the 3M Machine polish I told him to come out again. He was blown away by the fact that the paint was even more reflective. That made me pretty excited. I <3 this polisher! I also have some white pads and a gray one. Same system for those guys? hal9000 06-07-2003, 12:48 AM I usually clean mine in the sink...cause they're generally really dirty - gotta love those abused cars. Anyway, I use hot water (as hot as you can stand), put some dishwashing soap in it (that way it'll get rid of ALL stuff in the pad), squeeze/suds it up so it goes all the way thru, then rinse and wring until water comes out clear at least 3 times. Then I spin dry in the PC starting at 3, 4, 5 and 6 each time waiting for the mist to stop coming off the pad. That way in theory the pads are ready for immediate use, but usually, they go in the window garden rack (somehow it's not right that I have pads in my window when everyone else has plants, but oh well....) where they get some morn. sun. If I have a ton of them, I toss them in with the microfiber and was them there. wring out and lightly dry with mf on delicate until just damp then hang dry. (that way, both mf and pads never suffer from full heat). Ben Carufel 06-07-2003, 03:23 AM I wash mine like Hal, except I learned that using the PC when it's not pressed against a surface can damage it's bearings and so I don't spin dry them. I just wring them out well and air dry them. They're usually dry overnight. Yes, you wash the white and gray ones the same way. |
