Just got all my stuff from CMA and I'm ready to start my 3M stuff, but looking at the PC7424 it came with the 5" counterweight, isn't it suppose to be 6" if I'm using their 6" pads?

View Full Version : HELP: My PC 7424 from CMA came with a 5" counterweight??? ///Arman 06-06-2003, 04:56 PM Just got all my stuff from CMA and I'm ready to start my 3M stuff, but looking at the PC7424 it came with the 5" counterweight, isn't it suppose to be 6" if I'm using their 6" pads? TIA Ben Carufel 06-06-2003, 06:09 PM I think I remember hearing from CMA that their pads are OK to use with a 5" counterweight for some reason. Something about the way they're designed... Coastaltool.com gives you the 6" counterweight with your PC. I'm surprised CMA doesn't. You might want to check CMA's website to see if it's OK to use their pads with the 5" plate. If you can't find the info on the site, DON'T use your PC until you can figure out the answer. I'd call CMA if the info is not on their site. If you use a smaller counterweight you do run the risk of letting the machine vibrate itself to pieces...not so much literally, but it will create excess play on the spindle and also cause premature failiure. ///Arman 06-06-2003, 07:30 PM Yea, I'll guess I have to wait. Pisses me off though, I cancelled a lot to do this, this weekend and now I can't. This is the third thing they messed up on me, so far, I am extremely unhappy with their service. I can't believe so many people recommend them    Ben Carufel 06-06-2003, 07:36 PM Did you check out their website? I'm 99% positive I read on there that you can use their pads with the 5" counterweight. You might also try posting something on Autopia.com about it. You'll get a response tonight for sure if you mark it "URGENT!" ///Arman 06-06-2003, 08:24 PM Originally posted by Ben Carufel Did you check out their website? Thanks, you just made my friday! :D They say on the site to because of their backing plate that they sell, it's fine to use the 5" I should do more reading next time.... Ben Carufel 06-06-2003, 08:44 PM Happy to help out. I've had way too many detailing weekends cancelled because I couldn't get the right product in time...most of the time it's my fault, too! |
