I'm converting my 530i to a 540i. Since the 540i trans requires a new wiring harness and new driveshaft/ rear end/ cluster etc etc etc. I'm looking for a shop to rebuild and upgrade my 530i transmission, since I know that the stock trans can not handle the 540i motor's power. Throw out some suggestions if you got em. thanks

I want my dad to be able to take it out. He doesnt drive stick because he smokes cigars and listens to classical music as he drives.

why can't the stock tranny handle the power? most of hese trannys are underutilized as is...

Plus, why not try to run it and then rebuild it if you have to?

Lastly, the cost to rebuild it may be more than a used 540 tranny, cluster (don't know why you would need this too), driveshaft, and rear diff (although you likely need a new rear diff anyways to accomodate the newfound 540 power).

If it were me I would source a used 540 tranny, driveshaft, and get an LSD with a 3.23 or smaller even...

the electrical is where the real problem lies. I'd rather do a performance rebuild on the trans. Hopefully, my boss' friend will hook me up.
