Okay so I am finally flying back to Cleveland on the 21st of this month, to bring my car to the PNW, so since the car has been sitting since Nov, I know the batteries are dead, its a shame, I like those interstate batteries

I am looking into the optima batteries, after talking to a certain person on here with a CSL project, he has convinced me to give them a shot.

So now the million dollar questions?

What optima batteries will work with the 850i?

Has anyone used them and how are they?

Okida

Optima batteries are good especailly the yellow top deep cycle ones.

However you may be better off with Bosch or Varta batteries and just disconnect them when the car is not in use.

Bad experience with OPTIMA's in several of my vehicles. BOSCH or the INTERSTATE MTP-93are the way to go.

As Steffen said INTERSTATE MTP-93 os the way to go. I got them on all my 2 850's and still going strong. Can't beat the price at all.......

I wonder if autozone carries them: http://www.autozone.com/selectedZip,44241/initialAction,partProductDetail/initialpartType,00175/initialR,APP331449/initialvehicleId,2007601/shopping/selectZip.htm

I have the interstate batteries now, but can't find a retail chain that carries them, except for local mom and pop repair shops or a Honda dealer

my zip is 44241

Hey Tread,

If you're talking about me, I'm not considering Optimas, I'm considering Odysseys...

And keep me posted when you sell your wheels...

Are you going to try to recharge the old batteries first?

Did not know you can recharge the old batteries, its shame as the ones in the car are new, if I could reuse them, it would be great:redspot

Pull them out and take them to Autozone or Napa or where ever you were going to buy new batteries and have them tested--they charge them before teting so if they pass put them back in and have a nice trip back. If they fail then replace them and have a nice trip back :)

If they are still under warranty take them back to a dealer of that brand to have them checked out. Batteries usually don't actually die unless they are badly abused or old.

I had a battery in the garage that was dead and refused to take or hold a charge after several attempts. Hit it with one of the new electronic charger/ desulphators and it took a charge and has stayed up for months.

Optimas are so sweet, No spilling, Deep cycling and excellet for high end audio etc... Still have them in one car, The other has Interstate 93's, Serious cranking amps and a great choice! Nothing bad to say about them, The car sits for weeks now and still starts? I use a battery conditioner/tender on them when they sit over week to be safe though.
